Does the current Eng-Sa series show how badly India played?

i think it easier for south africa to face this kind of bowling they grow up on difficult tracks in there domestic system there are bowlers like philander,de lange... and smith,amla,kallis are world class to begin with we should have done better but its similar to how its easier for us to tour sri lanka compared to south africa touring them no excuse for 4-0 though :((

You dont have to look at south african performance to know that we played badly, I guess its time for MSD to give away his test captaincy, GG is more deserving, you dont lose 8-0 away and still continue with your captaincy, This is not IPL or Champions League, MSD can never be a good test cap.

A totally different case that India doesn't have good spinners.

They've done this tons of time before though. We've not scored 400-600 just like that over-seas. Even Kumble scored a ton in England last time around :P. I am confident the young gen would do well, the likes of Rahane, Kohli, Rohit might actually do well over-seas because they've got a lot of exposure with A-tours. They just need opportunities now.

India didn't make them work hard even in one innings. So their bowlers were not tired enough to start bowling crap. They bowled well even against SA. But SA's patiences prevailed.

yep see this innings only last over of day 1 broad bowled like 4 beauties in one over but petersen kept fighting on survived.. and next day england paid.. i think today we will see lot of fight from english batters.. gonna be good day for cricket!

Way too confident. Not just the players but us fans too. They had the attitude of "We are No.1 and can beat anyone, anywhere". With Ishant getting chunk of wickets in Windies, PK doing well there and Zak back in the side they considered themselves as a bowling powerhouse. Can't blame it on the injury as an excuse to our fail batting.

heres the thing even when ingerlund are losing, there is no apparent lack of effort seen in their players. they usually play as hard as they can. you can't fault their effort at any stage. whether they are good enuff to win or not is a different matter, but the effort is ALWAYS there. as a supporter, u could appreciate that. when india are losing, they don't give a flying ****. completely apathetic. going thru the motions. accept the result before its even played out. i feel really sorry for anybody that actually pays to support them at the stadium, because it would be a complete waste of time to show up for a team that doesn't care about the game and doesn't even want to try. when they DO play hard, it makes for amazing cricket. i.e. vs SA, cape town 2011. i guess thats where gary made a difference - he always had the team motivated and ready to kick some ass. the effort level was much higher

^ Maybe, they certainly come across that way. Too many of them are not nearly as fit as the English so they dont/cant put that kind of energy in... im sure they care... With regards to the England series the board were overconfident which led to the very poor preparation. We got away with poor prep in SA due to the sheer brilliance of the guys. I always think looking back we should have not toured WI after that IPL, Sehwag should have been told/asked to undergo surgery straight after the WC and the squad should have had a camp of 2 weeks or so to get fit and in shape before touring England, then once there played at least 3 tour matches including vs Lions....this isnt hindsight any and every commentator was saying how poorly prepared we were going into the series and how rubbish the scheduling was...we would still have lost but I think it would have been more respectable....
