indiaregulator Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Has scored 21 centuries. Out of the 21 centuries: 10 have been when the team has won. 10 have been when the team has drawn. 1 has been when the team lost. Is that the best ratio of any modern player? :omg:
vvvslaxman Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Kallis gotta be somewhere there with more centuries / Punter, Graeme smith.
Trichromatic Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Gilchrist scored 14 in won matches and 1 in lost matches.
The Outsider Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Having 21 centuries in 88 tests is a mediocre ratio to being with compared to world class batsmen like Tendulkar.

CSK Fan Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Can you differentiate how many were becuase of his agressive batting alone and how many where becuase of great bolwing/batting performances by his team members? Or do you mean to say KP took 20 wickets in those 10 matches which England won and score over 500 runs in each innings alone in the matches which were drawn?

The Outsider Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Outy trolling. :phehehe: Not trolling. By the logic of OP Gillespie is the greatest matchwinner.
Trichromatic Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Not trolling. By the logic of OP Gillespie is the greatest matchwinner. Where did he say that one with best ratio is greatest matchwinner?
The Outsider Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Where did he say that one with best ratio is greatest matchwinner? What exactly did he say then? Maybe my little grey cells are not functioning properly, but from what I gathered in the OP there was a correlation being made in being a match winner and percentage of hundreds scored in wins and draws.
Clarke Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Did this concept of matchwinner exist before the internet forums came into existence ? I have heard a few commentators/experts talk about 'big game player' but simply do not recall the likes of Henry Blofeld or Richie Benaud announce player xyz is a matchwinner. Sanjay or Ramiz might have, but they're hardly worth listening.
Crookbond Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 ^ Interesting point. I heard this around Chennai 1998 (THAT test :secret: ) for the first time.
Zap_Brannigan Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 In the 25 matches England has lost with KP playing, he averages 29 with just 1 100. Maybe if he scored better in those games, England might have not lost. So he is a big match loser.

maverick451 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Since Kp retired from Limited overs cricket weve won every game :two_thumbs_up:
