Kirsten also came out with statements during Dhoni's appointment as test captain. Didn't mean he was useless but its not all down to coach. Captain and players are responsible for this debacle.

I am surprised with all events gone before that people really think coach plays a big role. We have had: - Fletcher slapped down by Srini for going in favour of DRS - Fletcher not seeing any domestic cricket as far as I am aware - Has no role in selection - No role in monitoring future talent e.g. A tours - Is one hefty mofo. Is he really toiling providing practice for batsmen/bowlers? Doubt it. So what will change with someone else?

I don't want an Indian because sadly most of them seem be either on BCCI payrolls or under pressure from BCCI bigwigs for some reason or the other or worse still, have some kind of conflict of interest. So it comes down to the usual names like Fleming, Moody, Steve Waugh etc.

With seniors in the team i could have agreed but with a young side ,if we have somebody with technical knowledge and experience it will be great like Langer.

You could see that Fletcher has failed in motivating this team as after the World Cup, they have looked very casual and lethargic on field and didnt look desperate or hungry to win test matches. Allthough kirsten had an influence on gambhir and also made techincal improvements to his game.

Anyone would be pressurized by BCCI. Its up to the individual to walk a tight rope between managing BCCI and guiding the team in the right direction. Its impossible for an individual appointed by BCCI to work outside of the system or defy them in an outright way.
