mishra
Ashwin 169/1 vs SA in this series... not bad Unfair comparison. Pakistani pacers generally take care of opposition on bouncy tracks. Replace Ashwin with Ajmal on current tour and you will se he wont be doing any better. Link to comment

Austin 3:!6
We might laugh at Ajmal but he is a quality bowler. Yes his action is bit questionable but since it is accepted by ICC that debate does not hold good. Being an Indian, I am extremely biased towards Ashwin and wants him to do well. But lets face it there is no comparison between these 2 bowlers at the moment. Ashwin had a great start to his career and this debate might have hold good 1 year back. But his performance, specially in ODI's has gone downhill. He was never the same bowler after getting married. Gained weight, poor fitness, mystery pause & rubbish bowling became his trademark. Ajmal was man of the series in South Africa and in the same country Ashwin just picked 1 wicket conceeding 169 runs. He is our ace spinner and if his performance is like this, we need to drop him. I know people will laugh it off when I ask to bring back Bhajji and call it recycling. But there is no harm in trying the player once again who already proved his class by taking over test 400 wickets. Link to comment
I6MTW
Ashwin can bat better than Ajmal. Link to comment
R.D forever
Ajmal is way ahead now. But lets give ashwin some time. I am not sure why Ashwin gets this undeserved hatred from Indian fans :hmmm: People saying that his ODI bowling is rubbish obviously have not watched the WI ODI series where he bowled beautifully with the wet ball. Lets give him some time to settle in overseas conditions. He bowled pretty well in Australia. And FYI swann averages 75.00 in 3 tests with 7 wickets in the ashes :giggle: Link to comment
Number
Judge both at the end of their careers. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
One main thing that he would miss abroad is decent batting performance from our batsmen. Also he won't get help from our seamers. That is where he becomes defensive and tries too many variations. With the kind of seam attack we have we sure cannot expect slow, low tracks abroad. They can make the fastest pitch which generally rarely suits spinners, yet our seamers won't be able to use it. Link to comment
Tailender
Maybe ahwin should try chucking it. Only then can we judge the two on a level playing field yeah if it was that easy to "chuck" then i'm sure a population of 1.2 billion would have a produced better chuckers than rp singh, bhajji and ojha... surely... Iconoclast
One important fact about Ajmal that everyone is missing ... He doesn't even play any matches on his home pitches and still he has such an amazing record. Take away Ashwin's home record and what will you be left with ? Link to comment

Just remember Aswhin bowls on those same flat tracks where Kohli and others scores tons of runs. Also pitches in UAE are more spinner friendly than Pakistan's flat pitches. Consider yourself lucky that Ajmal gets to bowl on those UAE pitches otherwise his record would have been similar to Danish Kaneria's. Link to comment

By contrast Indian pitches turn from ball one. Link to comment

vvvslaxman
Another thing, Ajmal is 50 years old lol Ashwin is only 26 years old. So there is vast difference in experience :cantstop: Link to comment

No quiet true. In SA he did well in just one test. In other two tests you guys even questioned his spot. he bowls well only when there is a bit of turn. On a flat pitch he is no different. Besides he is yet to prove his test match credentials against the best players of spin bowling Link to comment

Your current Test batsmen aren't that wonderful against spin ... Ajmal will have a party whenever test ties are resumed against India. Link to comment
