Yes, earlier I used to be split between two and probably one of earlier polls I voted for Dhoni as well ahead of Ganguly. But now after Dhoni presiding over 0-8, that's not even a question. Ganguly all the way.
GautiMaan Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 As far as captaincy is concerned,Dhoni's greatest strength also becomes his greatest weakness,that is his tendency to shy away from controversies,he plays it safe when it comes to the media or team selections,this is great when the going is good,but when things are bad u need someone to take hard decisions or talk tough,imo this is where ganguly is ahead of msd

Really unfortunate his captaincy will always be over shadowed by the dismal 2007 world cup. ODIs : Dhoni. A level above every other captain when it comes to ODI Overall. : Ganguly. Gamguly as a captain did more good to Indian cricket in last 20 years than any other individual and than includes Sachin. If not for Ganguly we could have easily turned into another Pakistan

Srinath infact swore him on the ground in West Indies . Forcing Dravid to keep "either you keep or stay out of the team", forcing Yuvraj to open, persisting with Papa for long time, Tons of onfield errors. An honest expressive man who managed to mask lot of his failures by virtue of couple of outstanding series wins and few overseas test wins. He had some of the players at their prime both in bowling and batting department. Pretty egoistic and argumentative. No wonder Sachin said Dhoni was the best captain he had played under. Only thing Ganguly managed to do was not losing a series comprehensively. But he never won anything comprehensively either. Lot of test series could have been won . But we choked generally after taking the lead.

Not losing comprehensively overseas is a brilliant record going by our history abroad As far as SRT's comment goes...there is a little thing called diplomacy....Do you really expect him to critique him while playing under him...Hell even Dravid and Laxman didn't say a single negative thing about Dhoni despite the way they retired
