More than the lack of talent, it is the lack of application, hard work, dedication, temperament is hurting our players. Those factors cannot be measured. Only future will tell whether they have it in them to sustain their form and hunger. THen there is a small matter of opposition figuring you out. Most of the fans judge players by their fancy shots. That is what you get in a T20. We don't care whether they know where the off stump is (M Vijay is a classic example), we don't care whether they pick the right ball to attack , whether they have the right temperament to see off a tough session, whether they have the courage to stand up to testing conditions etc etc.. All these weaknesses are hidden in short formats. So this judgement of X >>>>>> Y, Y >>>>>> X are practically irrelevant unless and until they get equal opportunity at the highest level for a period .

Depends a lot on the individual players as well. Kohli almost went astray but was wise enough to realize the mistakes and worked hard on his game.

Uthappa said in an interview that he thought he could get away with murder. How they handle the success varies from person to person. Excessive commercialization has not provided enough motivation to get to the next level. Kohli is bit of an exception.

if we are talking about Test prospects ' date=' Mandeep >>>>>>>>> Chand .[/quote'] Some sanity in a sea of foolishness. But hey, Chand scored a 100 against mighty U-19 bowlers in a One day so he should be selected for tests. :haha: We should ignore his poor record at home, technique against spin, poor batting against a real fast bowler like Lee and low FC average. Getting runs doesn't matter at all. :two_thumbs_up: Being the highest averaging Indian FC batsmen, cracking a matchwinning 151 in Aus and over 200 runs in only your 2nd overseas FC game is just irrelevant. He also has an excellent home record unlike Chand, BUT Mandeep lacks "the punch" so he shouldn't be considered...

Lack of right guidance and counseling is Indian cricket a lot' date=' not every playe can be wise enough to handle all this.[/quote'] +1 There are many people behind the scenes who do not give good advice for their personal benefits - agents/managers being one of them.

Unmukt enjoys senior pros’ respect TH19_KEVIN_1241780f.jpg

It really pays to be Unmukt Chand these days as he discovers that Delhi Daredevils’ star players such as Kevin Pietersen, Mahela Jayawardene, Morne Morkel have enough time to discuss cricketing matters with the Indian sensation. “You really feel confident when you have a session with someone like Kevin Pietersen. I had an elaborate session in Pertoria where he gave me some valuable tips on technique,” Unmukt said from Durban. “I was trying to hit every ball out of sight and KP told me not to do that as I wasn’t shaping up correctly. “He told me that unlike in India where one can accelerate in a Twenty20 game from the first ball, it’s not possible in South Africa. “He advised me that since I will bat up the order, I should be cautious during the initial phase and then start attacking. If he got Pietersen to talk on batting, his skipper Mahela Jayawardene gave him a compliment after KKR match that he would remember for a long time to come. “Mahela told me that under the circumstances, my innings was one of the best in T20 that he has seen. It was indeed a proud moment when something like this comes from a player of his stature.” “And Morne has started calling me a ‘Legend’ and pats my back whenever he gets a chance,” he laughs. The six Unmukt hit off Jacques Kallis’s bowling during a Champions League Twenty20 match was a “special one” and he feels that it got him the momentum. “Hitting Kallis for a six was special. It was right there in my slot and I timed it really well. The six gave me the momentum to build an innings,” he added. New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor was a constant source of encouragement during that partnership. “Ross was telling me to concentrate on singles and twos and try to hang in there as long as possible. When all these players share pearls of wisdom, it feels that I am on the right track.”

Chand to play today. Have always cheered for him. But I have a feeling he's gonna fail today. Cause he's playing reall bowlers for a change and not kids, don't think he will be able to handle it :(( Well atleast he's still focusing on studies. Not every youngster will end up playing for India.

Oh yes.. Azhar Mahmood, Kyle Mills are some real bowlers for a change... I bet Mandeep Singh wouldn't last even 2 balls against 'these' real bowlers :finger:

No! I missed Unmukt's innings today, was very excited to watch him bat. Can one of you Chand fans update me on how he went today? Heard it was testing conditions. So how did Chand fare today? Must have scored a century surely the way he is hyped in the media.

3 runs  Have always supported him but now I've lost all patience for him. So inconsistent and you can see it in his record. Once again against non 18 year olds he looks poor in testing conditions. Got out to a gully cricketer aswell this time... Time to move on, Chand shouldn't even be on the selectors radar now. Other youngsters are far more consistent and have much better figures. They also fare far better overseas than this media hyped player.
