1983-2011 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 he should be a selector along with dravid and shastri and not the coach
1983-2011 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Only former player i am in favor of coaching is Ravi Shastr. He will be useful in strategic part. But when you talk about other aspects like physical conditioning' date=' mental conditioning, fielding you need someone else.[/quote'] just making him the head coach and let him bring in the individuals for the different roles like England where flower is the head coach and gooch is the batting coach
King Khan Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 even if there may have been better tactical captains. I think given Ganguly's age profile if he manages to say coach pune in the ipl and improve them to being atleast semi finalists and also starts to take an interest in coaching WB Based on their results maybe when he is 45 we will be a candidate. Thats a BIG What-If there buddy. Good luck with that :giggle:.

adi B Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Always brings a chuckle to my face when Ganguly tags his name along Tendulkar, Dravid, and Laxman. In the last test while on commentary and talking about India's away performances he said something like, "and we also had a great batting line up performing abroad like Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, myself, Sehwag". so? he has every right to...he was a very good contributor at #6 and #5..laxman wasnt that good earlier in his career.he struggled in england..later only i.e after 2003 he was a more refined batsman..talking of sehwag, we know how great he is outside sc..only dravid and tendulkar were much better batsmen than him in tests.. sehwag and laxman were also better than him,but not miles ahead.. without ganguly the middle order didnt look much formidable in abroad tou..too many chopping and changes at #6 didnt provide any stability
Trichromatic Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 so? he has every right to...he was a very good contributor at #6 and #5..laxman wasnt that good earlier in his career.he struggled in england..later only i.e after 2003 he was a more refined batsman..talking of sehwag, we know how great he is outside sc..only dravid and tendulkar were much better batsmen than him in tests.. sehwag and laxman were also better than him,but not miles ahead.. without ganguly the middle order didnt look much formidable in abroad tou..too many chopping and changes at #6 didnt provide any stability Except SA and Englad, Sehwag is miles ahead of Ganguly in Australia, SL, Pakistan and West Indies.
Number Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Anyone but Duncan Motu. And sooner Ganguly leaves commie box the better for our batsmen.
Crookbond Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Ganguly as a batsman is great in test matches, and people are arguing?
PaceAttack Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Will he teach Raina how to play bouncers? J/K. He can be a great selector, not a coach. As a coach he will hyper and won't be very successful.
vvvslaxman Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Even I can coach as effectively as Shastri "When you want to hit over the slips have you slash hard" "to hit a boundary hit it like a tracer bullet" " make room hit it with the spin" simple right Naa. he was tactically sound. He read the game very well. Only problem was he was far too selfish.
vvvslaxman Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 he should be a selector along with dravid and shastri and not the coach selector.. you will soon find Ashok dinda captaining India :cantstop:
PaceAttack Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 selector.. you will soon find Ashok dinda captaining India :cantstop: He can also bring in Shammi ahmed which is not bad.
putrevus Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 What exactly is Ganguly going to bring to the table. He himself was very spotty in facing short pitched bowling , what will he teach the youngsters. As a coach he might be more in limelight than the captain himself which is not very good or healthy. This generation of Indian players are as already brash,it was one thing he definitely gave Indian cricket. I don't think he was ever a great strategist which is one of main thing a captain needs from coach.

It's a baggage that comes with him de facto.
Pagalpanti Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Can't have him as coach ever, he always comes up with controversial statements. And it wont be healthy for team, and he's too big a ego to allow captain have his way. If he wants to payback, why not coach and mentor Bengal team like Laxman is doing for Hyd. :dontknow: Should stop these big statements and rather do something for development of the game in domestic level like Kumble, Dravid, Srinath.

You expect Lordie to do that. :giggle:
Pagalpanti Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Yeah. He will replace whole Indian team with Bengali team.:cantstop: First thing he'll do is replace Dhoni with Saha and Yadav with Dinda. :giggle:
