Oh yes...definitely up there. He has been selective about his roles and he can be proud of having one of the best filmographies for his age.
his choice of GFs r even betetr than his films :icflove: Gisele Bundchen Bar Refaeli Blake Lively

One of the....YES but not outright greatest Dicaprio s role model Johnny depp should be right up there but unfortunately most people remember him for the pirates franchise and over the top Tim burton movies but he does some obscure Indy flicks too where he is amazing Christian bale is very underrated too ....the way that guy dedicates to his roles is crazy....watch the end credits of the fighter to know what I am talking about....he way he portrayed the real life dude on whom the character was based is mind blowing Matt Damon is right up there too....Jamie foxxx is incredible.... Denzel obviously I would say belongs to a generation prior to Leo Leo is amazing no doubt but being Leo the directors and the options he has should also be taken into consideration and yes I believe he should have won an Oscar for blood diamond

If I had to pick my all time favs it would be Kevin spacey,Denzel ,robin Williams and Hugh jackman whom I thought was just another pretty boy but boy did he blow everyone away in his Oscar hosting gig....now that's a complete trained actor....not John Abrahams and salmaan khans we are stuck with

Greatest??? The man has received some of the best roles in past ten years and continues to be a work in progress. Good actor yes. Hardly the greatest. Amongst the new lot I thought Edward Norton would be the next big thing, till he went the whole superhero (Hulk) route

^Who would you suggest is the best then? I rate Ed Norton very highly, one of my favorite actors. Started his career with some great roles, some of choices of late have been bit disappointing though he was recently in Moonrise Kingdom which was supposed to be very good Much depends on how one defines a generation, I would have thought Depp and Di Cap are kinda the same generation ....?? there's a 12 year age gap, not huge... Pitt is probably the same kinda age as Depp...going by age Bale is a year older than Leo and Damon is 4 years older so those guys are of the same generation..Damon is more versatile...though less consistent in terms of film quality...

DiCaprio is like a Nasseruddin Shah or Post 2000 Aamir Khan - A good resume. On the basis of pure acting skill, DiCaprio, like the other two, is thoroughly mediocre. Frankly, Brad Pitt (who for the longest time was considered just a pretty boy) is a much better actor (and has an equally impressive resume to boot). Russell Crowe, Denzel, Norton and Clooney are the cream of the current generation.

Extremely hard to say that. This era, in my opinion, is simply geared too much towards Superhero/fantasy/sci-fi etc. Where is the room for great movies and acting? Look at the run down for the great movies of past decade: Avatar Lord of the Rings IronMan Batman Harry Potter Avengers Pirates of the Carribean yada yada yada You seriously need a big actor for any of these movies? Sure a Christian Bale takes Batman to a whole new level but I think even with Ashton Kutcher it would have been a hit (okay maybe that was a stretch lol but you get the hint. The notable actors today, for me, would be - Sean Penn, Ed Norton (I am still hopeful), Christian Bale, Matt Damon (seems to do alright in every role), Downey Jr and outsiders like Willem Dafoe, Steve Buscemi and the likes.

I think he is/was a product of good scripts. I can't recall him dragging a mediocre cast/storyline along and make a movie watchable like other Bollywood greats. Maybe I need to watch more of his movies... BTW I'm not admonishing his body of work. He, for the large part, chose to work in good films. It is just that he didn't outshine his costars like an Amitabh, Rajesh Khanna, Sanjeev Kumar and Dilip Kumar so often would.

^ Naseeruddin Shah belongs to the category of versatile actors who can do anything. Commercial cinema, parallel cinema, theater...he has done it all with great performances and to the delight of critics. Yeah, you should watch more of his movies. And then we have Om Puri.

There are only good directors.. Yes, sometimes an actor does rise above the story, screenplay and direction but each has his or her limitations and those movies are few and far between Leonardo can't pull off an IRon Man Nasser probably would not have acted in all those parallel cinema movies if he had conventionally good looks Blah blah A good actor is probably one that chooses the right films

The acting skills required in a superhero/Sci flick is hugely underrated....Iron man will not be the same without Downey or Pirates without Depp.....The reason why we can't imagine anyone else in these roles is because how these actors added their own charisma and skills to it.... Even an already established franchise like Harry Potter had some amazing actors like Helena Bonham,Gary Oldman etc in important roles...We just don't realise what they bring in to the table What you are saying is not true....Let me give you an example....Probably there are other great actors who could have played Thakur in Sholay and it would have still been a hit but what Sanjeev Kumar brought to the table to the character is legendary....Sometimes you need a great actor to make a good role even better

No. Infact Martin scorsese miscast him in many movies. In some of the movies he was utterly misfit. what is eating gilbert grape, basketball diaries are couple of movies i liked him. But Martin overused him.
