puneet28 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Why everyone keeps forgetting Uday Kaul for wicket keeping ? He is impressive in Ranji, playing last 2-3 seasons has an average of 53. Was a member of U19 WC winner team with Virat. I would also take his brother Siddharth Kaul in radar for bowling. Siddharth should be A team. Selectors should forget Praveen, Munaf, RP Singh, Nehra, Ishant, Aaron (he is mostly injured) and groom some young bowlers
Sachin=GOD Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Raina' date=' Chawla and Jadeja coming into the test side soon[/quote'] Nah... Raina and Chawla haven't been in great form in Ranji so I don't think they have much chance right now. Jadeja has been in very good from but frankly speaking, I wouldn't want a new player to make his debut in the last Test of a series because seeing how Indian cricket works, I wouldn't be surprised if in case he plays and fails, he's dropped for the next series. If he has to be given a chance then it better be at the start of a series where he (or some other new player) can at least have a few chances to prove himself.
Sidhoni Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 What has Ojha done to be dropped from that side?
asterix Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 As expected Chawla and Jaddu in the team. Classic Dhobi effect. Got back his boys...
jairamesh Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Right now the way the new team is being blooded is basically by duck taping bits and bobs here and there, i.e. Jadeja, Murli Vijay, Chawla. There is no coherent plan to build the Test team (for home and away), selectors and BCCI are just twiddling their thumbs and only responding when situation is desperate. I wonder even if Fat Fletcher and Dhoni have simple targets like Flower when he started. Flower publicly outlined his ambitions, of first winning Ashes in Australia, then No.1 Test spot and then ODI WC.
Ultimate_Game Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 And the "new" team we got has likes of Sir Ravindra Jadeja and Piyush "Confidence" Chawla :(( Only Awana is a good selection. This is like going backwards if that is even possible with this Indian side. Jaddu can neither be a specialist batsman or a good enough bowler for Tests and the less said about Chawla the better.
TestPlayer Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Jaddu can neither be a specialist batsman or a good enough bowler for Tests Sorry, can't agree with that one. That man just got two triple-hundreds. Another triple last season.

Lord Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 turns out I was completely wrong :--D ur fault,u were thinking logically:beee:
Sachin=GOD Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 ur fault' date='u were thinking logically:beee:[/quote'] :giggle: I think the selection of Chawla has been done to bolster the lower order - he has been in good form with the bat. As for bowling, Harbhajan/Ashwin anyways haven't done well with the bowl so Chawla can't be much worse. Could that have been the rational behind Chawla's selection??
vvvslaxman Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Dhoni ought to leave the hot seat. That should be the primary change.
TestPlayer Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Dhoni ought to leave the hot seat. That should be the primary change. No, Dhoni should leave Test cricket. And so should Sachin. When you say he (Dhoni) should leave the hot seat, leave alone the national side, do you think he deserves a place even in the India A team?
Laaloo Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Time to blood a new team was after the 8-0 thrashing not now. Regardless, the selectors will select the same brain dead players over and over again

Regardless' date=' the selectors will select the same brain dead players over and over again [/quote'] It was but BCCI, selectors and even the players were busy harping on "but we win at home" theme. Now even that excuse is no longer there so at the very least we should be able to blood a newish time going forward.
Raghav_12 Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 I didn't read much of the discussion once I saw name of Dhoni in OP. Dhoni shouldn't be allowed even in the stands for a test match, forget about playing in it. That is the extent of damage he has done to Indian Test Cricket.
special K Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Mohammad Kaif should be given another go.

That's why there's an option of Karthik in there
maniac Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 You have Dhoni in the OP but no Ojha, who has been our best bowler this series?

The thread was started by someone who thinks Dhoni > Gilchrist as a package.
