Based on his performances, he deserved to be in the team to England instead of Binny, but he doesn't have a Godfather in the BCCI unlike Binny.

if binny is bad doesn't mean Rishi should get a go . "seam bowling all-rounders" shoudn't be played just for the sake of it
If they wanted a seam bowling all-rounder, then Dhawan was a better choice purely based on his performances. If they didn't feel anybody was good enough, then neither of them should have been picked.

Deserves a shot in the ODI side as the World Cup is in Australia where spinners won't get a lot of help. Going with 2 spinners won't be a good move in Aus/NZ as we found out in NZ ODI series. I think Bhuvi can be our seamer all rounder as he can be a useful lower order batsman and go with 3 other specialist seamers and one of Ashwin or Jaddu. Rishi can be backup if one of our seamers is not doing well and he can add runs down the order.

Anyway Binny would be in squad after his 6-4.Hope Dhawan is picked up too as a backup.

I haven't seen him bat much, but his FC average of 40 is better than Binny's 36. So, he might be a better or at least equally good as a batsman. I'm pretty sure his bowling is much better.

Having seen Rishi's batting in IPL,He seems a limited batsman who can hang around and support main batsmen, like Bhuvi
