Cant play quality pace or short of length ball. Simple We need to pick players who can compete with the best and play in all conditions home and away. Jadeja is a joke pick and will be a failure over his carrer in tests, its so obvious
i sort of agree there but dont want to judge before he can bat. I also cant see him doing too well v Pattinson. If anything Ashwin is probably a better batsman than Jadeja

Jadeja is really good as a support bowler and to be honest, Ashwin looked the most threatening when Jadeja was at the other end because of Jadeja's accuracy. Having said that though, I think Ojha could have done the same job and furthermore could have gotten more wickets. Jadeja is not a strike bowler and unless he can score 50+ regularly with the bat, or get 5 wickets, he is not worth his spot in the team over a specialist batsman or bowler.

Also, I was supporting Ishant but I think he is taking 1 step forward 2 steps back. He will bowl a good spell and then follow it up with a bad one. I think he could do with a stint in county cricket. I wouldn't close the book on him forever (anyone who is 6"5 and can bowl 140+ should always be considered if in form), but he needs to spend a good length of time on pitches with life in it instead of banging it in here in India on these tracks which offer nothing for the seam bowlers. If Dinda can get reverse swinging yorkers in, he could be worth a look in. This is obviously temporary until Zaheer and Yadav are fit. Shami Ahmed would have been a good addition to this squad.

This is something that always surprises me about modern teams. Not just India. If you look at Wasim Akram and the way he used to clean up tailenders it was nothing more than inswinging yorkers. Even a decent club cricketer, with a few days of solid practice could start bowling inswinging yorkers. It comes down to the amount of practice they do. You can't just bowl the odd yorker here and there in the nets and expect it to come out perfectly in the game.

They showed a steyn short ball delivered at 149k by the time it reached the batsman it was at 129k, the commies talked about a yorker how it loses much less speed compared with a short ball e.g. some akhtar ball in 1999 world cup delivered at 158k would have reached the batsman at 149k. I think it was this D9O7HHHHLyk

Yep sure but yorkers are still extremely effective when used as a surprise ball. So in an over if you bowl length, length, length, bouncer, length, yorker ...The yorker would still be effective. At the very least you wouldn't allow them to score freely. What is strange though is that even when bowlers these days try to bowl yorkers, it ends up as a half-volley or full-toss. An international pace bowler who spends several hours a day honing his craft should be able to execute a yorker at will. I don't think any pace bowler has an excuse not to be able to do that.

Yorkers are effective when there is reverse swing unless u are really quick.Even indian tailenders like bhajji, kumble, ishant, ashwin, dhoni have played good knocks.

Fair enough, I doubt many bowlers (except Malinga) actually practise yorkers in the net
