I think Gambhir if he keeps scoring in domestic cricket AND scores on the next A-tour is worth a look in for the South Africa series. He scored there last time and hopefully can correct his technical flaws.

But still you never know he might become good. Rarely is a fast bowler the leading wicket taker in an India-Aus series. He was equal 1st with legend killer Bhaji in 08! Bhaji had been leading the previous 2 times but in 2008 Ishant bowled beautifully. He seems to be out of form atm. I still have faith in Ishant :)
