Is dhoni playing like sachin?

It was always unfair deal for Dravid and Ganguly who were compared with Sachin at his best. If you take him out, these two were our best even in ODIs. Dhoni however great he is, totally afraid to take the responsibility and prefers to come at #6 consistently. That to me is totally negative approach. If he is better than others, then use as many overs as he could. His averages are bloated with bunch of NOs. He should use Raina as a hitter, even Yuvi. I would like to see him at #4 with Yuv and Raina to follow.
:hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical: Top order is easiest place to play in ODI's . if anything its the top order players whos avgs are bloated in ODI , even the SR's thanks to fielding restrictions . you shold check Msd's avg when he plays at no4 & no3

Tendulkar never played like Dhoni . Dhoni is miles ahead of any other batsmen in ODI's . Yuvraj would be the second best , followed by Tendulkar , Ganguly and Dravid .
 So? It is ridiculous to compare Dhoni and Tendulkar's playing styles in the first place given their diametrically opposite roles in the batting lineup.

What do you mean by that? How would an opener play like a finisher? Yuvraj ahead of Tendulkar and Ganguly? It seems that you rate finishers higher than top order players.
Opener can still play a role in chasing . Virat is a top order player , but that hasnt stoped him from playing matchwinning knocks . Finishers should be rated ahead of top order players .

+1 The finishers deserves more credits in ODIs. Dhoni is the best as he is a great finisher in a chase and while setting a target as well. The 5th ODI at Eden last year was a fine example.

and Sachin did that many times.

That shouldn't make a good batsman better than all time best batsman.

too far n few for a career of 20 years . Virat has won more chasing alreday in a short career . you can leave the avgs , SR's , batting style , batting position etc , in the end its all about winning matches , and no batsmen has played even close to match winning knocks msd has played . its not even a contest in that regard .

How the F is this turning into a Tendulkar bashing thread is beyond my imagination! Stop it guys - the great man has retired from ODIs, let him be in peace. Too many comparison threads these days, it's time to ignore these.

So Virat Kohli who has only plundered Lankans in ODIs is already a great. :cantstop:
where did you get that from ? Virat has played arguably the best ODI knock ever , with 13 (?) hundreds already .. whats so funny ?

5 of them against Lankans (very poor attack) and 2 against Bangladesh. 1 against WI - lower tier side. 2 against England's 2nd string bowling attacks.(failed when first team attack was played). 1 against total noob filled Aus attack in a runfest. (failed against them in testing conditions) I like him a lot but he has done zlich to be compared with Sachin or Dhoni. I hate the hype and hoopla of oh he is already better match winner..

Yes because your anti-Sachin bais for generations doesnt count at all, does it? Good to see that you have hitched onto the Dhoni bandwagon once Dravid has retired. BTW, please bring stats to back your point- Most of Dhoni's "match winning" knocks were when the entire Indian ODI team was in red hot form and players like Sachin, gambhir, Kohli contributed to the wins. Even in the world cup final, we might have still ended up losing if not for Gambhir's knock too. In the last game Jadeja really stepped up. As soon as the form of other players went down, we are seeing how many of Dhoni's good knocks are ending up on the losing side. Heck, he even got man of the match on the losing side just like Sachin used to Can you answer one simple question please? If a batsman with one of the best strike rate in ODIs in his time scores a 100 and team loses, how the heck is his fault even according to the most biased and narrow minded person in the world? I am not talking about when he was past his peak and on the verge of retirement. I am talking about when he was at his peak. Most of Sachin knocks were at an awesome strike rate. In fact his strike rate was more than any player in either teams. He also scored huge 100s and over 150 scores regularly . He scored with a strike rate more than anyone else in the game, yet his team loses. How is this his goddamn fault and what else he could have done to win those games? Smacked his collaeagues so that they dont throw their wickets away? Emotionally blackmail them? If you can explain this simple logic to me, I will concede you are right and that Sachin could have done something else to win those games Some people talk about staying not out and finishing the game. But someone like Dhoni needs to score only around 70-80 runs to do that while an opener needs to score over 150 runs in an average game to remain not out. Its not an opener's job to remain not out. So please answer my point Dhoni peak form also coincided with our purple patch when all of our ODI players, Gambhir, Sehwag, Raina and the entire team was in red-hot form and winning everything at home, particulalry matches against Sri Lanka I will also have a bet with you. I will bet that now that the India ODI team is weakened, Dhoni's number of knocks in winning matches will decrease drastically though his average will remain more or less the same. Will you accept? BTW, going by the past, I am not expecting a reply from you but at least other posters can see how hollow your points are
