Should we adopt the recent Aussie policy of throwing in every seamer out there to see what works best

Was just looking at the SL-Aus ODI series and was amazed by the bowling line up they tried in one of the ODI's Ben Cutting Richardson Mckay they followed it up with Henriques Starc Mckay Johnson That's 6 different seamers in 2 odi's We all know about their resources in test matches,with Bird having debuted in one of the tests...their frontline seamers are obviously injured. Now we have already discussed about their pace resources in a different thread,but will all the names of Indian seamers being thrown around on ICF,Should we adopt the same policy Bhuvan and Shami have done well in their debuts. Ishant has been decent so far Awana wasn't good enough Dinda is ok for T20 Did we miss the chance to give say someone like Pankaj or even a returning Shreeshanth(much like Aussies did with Johnson)-Just a thought don't jump on me for just that one line.... or any other new promising bowler...just to see what our right combo would be before the all important test series against Aus? The Eng ODI series ddoesnt seem to be a top priority...so did we miss the boat my inducting as many seamers or for the matter of fact spinners as possible?

I agree. They should have included one more seamer and played him in the final ODI if we won the next one. I would have liked to see Awana or Pankaj in the squad in place of Dinda.

Aussies seem to have taken this series against Lanka as a trials for their upcoming talent...India should have done the same against Eng this series...in terms of importance both series should have been given almost the same prioroty by the hosts.

Johnson,Starc,Mckay,Cutting,Richardson,Henriques,Siddle,Hilfenhaus,Bird, If we include Watson That's 10 different seam bowlers in a series India including Eng test,odi,t20 and pak series t20 and odi Zak,Ishant,Umesh,Awana,Shami,Dinda,Bhuvan 7 different seam bowlers in more matches

The Aussie process is not to "throw out every seamer" but rotate. The names under question are good enough to play at the international arena. RKT will add more.

Have you seen Moises Henriques....let alone international but the guy was ordinary even in Chamipons league and other T20 tournaments I have seen him in.

Aussies get in players for various reasons. Recently, they played Rob Quiney in a Test match against SA. Why? Because he was a good fielder and a "leader". It was same for Henriques - they were looking for an all rounder and he fit the bill. Remember - Ian Harvey? Everyone thought he was **** but he did the job as long as he was in the team. Same reason type of player. Another one which comes to my mind is Andrew McDonald. He did his job and was utilized effectively not to add, thrown away when there was no utility. The Aussies are shrewd in their selections.

I think with 3 formats its not sustainable to have the same squad playing all 3 formats, so sooner or later we will need to adopt one of 2 approaches: 1) Rotate the players and keep them fresh for the big matches 2) Adopt largely different squads for different formats One of the best examples of "rotation"/"player-management", etc. is Dale Steyn. He debuted in Tests in 2004 and ODIs in 2005. Since then he's played 62 Tests but only 67 ODIs. It's not that he's not good at ODIs (he averages 28 at a S/R of 34). It's that South Africa realise that to get maximum utility out of Dale Steyn, they need to keep him fresh for all the Tests and only the key ODI matches. It's worked so far. Steyn has managed to stay relatively injury free for most of his career (which is remarkable) and has played most of the big matches for South Africa. Maybe rather than Australia, India should be looking at how South Africa manage their players.

We dont have to do everything that australia does, if you notice, every seamer they played were 6 feet plus lean fit guys, and we have pot bellies like awana, vinay kumar, praveen kumar's in our ranks. We should give time to bhuvaneshwar and shami ahmed to settle in the intl. arena first before even thinking of 'rotating' or 'throwing in' other bowlers. Third seamers spot is the one that can be rotated around, with the likes of Ishant, Sreesanth, Pankaj, Kaul, Ishwar Pandey, however, upon return of umesh yadav, i expect a tough compeition amongst seamers and it is a blessing in diguise in waiting for team india.

also people are forgetting injuries they are getting right now they are kind of forced to throw in untested players but they have gr8 domestic structure and cos of it many of these bowlers are good neough to challenge ok batting line up..while strong batting line ups like england and south africa showed they have long way to go!

no i meant.. they are throwing in so many bowlers cos many of them are not just not lasting full series its not just to try new bowlers or rotation but thye are kind of forced to do that with every 2nd guy getting injured in middle of every test
