21:30 Three-pronged probe on Hyderabad blasts begin: Vicky Nanjappa reports: The angles of investigation into the twin blasts in Hyderabad are several. The police and the Intelligence Bureau are conducting investigations on three points. While the revenge angles pertaining to the hanging of Afzal Guru and the arrest of the youth in connection with both the assassination plot and Mecca Masjid blasts are being probed, the agencies are also looking into an angle of personal rivalry. The police say that all angles are open at the moment and a possible retaliation following the arrest of Akbar Owaisi is also being looked into. Although this angle looks extremely remote, the police say that they would go into that angle as well. The routine questioning of several operatives who are in the custody of the police for various acts of terror is also being conducted by the Hyderabad police. At the moment, the biggest possible link points towards revenge following the Afzal Guru hanging, police sources say. A clear picture would emerge soon, the police also point out. The police in the neighbouring states have been alerted and all possible attempts are on to nab the culprits, the police also point out.
What is the Afzal connection to Hyderabad?

Casualties will go high...the blast site is an extremely crowded one...specially in the evenings....& the police patrolling is minimum there....also due to extremely dense population regular checking isn't very effective & anyone can do anything there...Local news says that around 20+ casualties are there....but still the correct number is still unknown.

Seems like a busy market area was targeted doesn't sound like it was Muslim or Hindu dominated area
Though the blast site is part of Old Hyderabad (Muslim dominated) but the Dilsukhnagar colony is a posh one..with lots of banks officials living there..along with a few famous temples.

RIP. While the challenges of policing in India are on a completely different level than some western country, there seems to be no change forthcoming from the government with regards to gathering and utilizing intelligence.

What is the Afzal connection to Hyderabad?
Jaish-e-Muhammad has carried out attacks outside Kashmir before as well. Hyderabad's Owaisi crowd gives them a logical hold in the city. Certainly can't be ruled out.

Right now I am at my home in Hyderabad. The blast happened 2 KM from my home. I was planning to go to that area at 8:30 PM. My sister, my brother-in-law and my niece were around that area when the blast occurred. They heard the blasts but later heard rumors that it was only an accidental cylinder blast. All the phone lines were jammed. My mom was getting nervous until my sister called and told they returned back home. Crazy anxious moments. :nervous:

huh what? Dilsukhnagar is neither part of old city nor muslim dominated nor a posh area. Have you ever been there? I think you are thinking about Saidabad, beyond Saidabad is not old city and you can actually visually see that.

I feel sorry for the government but still puzzled of its general prior knowledge of blasts but no specifics' date='how does that happen?.[/quote'] I would assume they were tipped. Someone told them about the impeding blasts, but did not furnish enough information to act on.
