He's really bad' date=' it's not even the accent[/quote'] It's both. His analysis couldn't be more DUH(more cliched and "safe" than Shastri) and an embarrassingly fobby accent on top of it. Very bad combination for match-commentary. Any time he did speak, it was followed with long silences from his partners. You could tell they were all inwardly thinking this guy sucks.

I don't know why you guys are picking on him for his accent. I can understand him easily. Anyhows, I really don't care about the commenting with respect to giving me details on every delivery bowled. I can see what's happening in the match. What interests me more are the anecdotes that these past players share on TV. Sidhu and Gavaskar come up with interesting ones.

I had rarely heard him speak in Hindi during his career as he used to give interviews in English all throughout his career. Being a Deccan/Hyderabadi/Southie :P I expected him not to be that fluent in Hindi (similar to Dravid, Kumble etc.). But was fairly surprised when I saw him giving commentary in Hindi the other day. Not bad at all.

Seriously poor commentary by Laxman What sort of commentary is this? I am a southie but that accent is putting even me off.. Not even an original observation so far.. Just amplifying with double exclamations what others say in the box. What a joke is this chap turning out to be?
