PBN Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 The pitches at Mohali have been great and have produced some really exciting cricket. In general, one sees few people in the stands for Test matches than ODI's or t20. As for the crowds in Mohali, there has been decent crowds when the matches get really interesting. Even today, there was a crowd there..probably a couple of thousand probably. It's not like there was no one in the stadium. Let's wait for the weekend. The match against Australia in which Laxman and Ojha won it in the end had decent amount of fans in the stadium. The area where Mohali stadium is built used to be a marsh and so they obviously got the land for cheap and also the fact that it is near an airport helps. Ludhiana and the Doaba region, despite having lots of NRIs doesn't have an airport there. Thus, we are not likely to see a cricket stadium there. Anyways, the next proposed cricket stadium is in Mullanpur, adjacent to Chandigarh again where a full fledged city is 'proposed'.
carnish Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I have said it before and I repeat it ... If you say conditions are not good, I will take it. But please don't complain about not being allowed to take stuff in, especially mobile phones and stuff like that. It isn't the BCCI's prerogative to ban such stuff from the stadium. Its the city police authorities who are in charge of security and with all the terrorist activities in the Indian subcontinent, we have no choice but to compromise a little for a good day of test match cricket.
