Mohali was flat as well
Then Australia would've scored 500+ It was mainly because of Dhawan and Vijay India got to 499. Pitch slowed down in second innings for both teams. Pitch was flat but not that flat.

Mohali on Day2 (1) was flat and so was the Hyderabad wicket were they got bowled out under 250. Its their piss poor batting, not the pitch.

Good for him. All these specialists stuff is a bit overrated, though in Tests one should primarily be selected because they can hold their own with either the bat or the ball and the rest is a bonus. If one looks at it Jadeja has the numbers in this series which makes a specialist spinner satisfied, mind you playing alongside two other spinners who are primarily selected for their bowling. To better or be on par with them tells he has earned it thus far, while dismissing the best Test batsman today arguably in world cricket 5 out of 6 times. Congratulations!!!!

Hope he discovers his batting at test level. Gives India a different option in different conditions. For example, in some of the SA and Aus pitches, there's nothing in it for spinners (unless you are a really good leggie). There could be a case to pick 4 pacers and Jadeja. Jadeja's ER at FC and test level is excellent. He can keep it steady and the 4 pacers can go all out at all times without worrying about saving themselves towards the end of the day. One of the frustrating things about India in challenging conditions abroad is as a bowling unit they run out of steam after one decent partnership by the opposition. Spinner is ineffective (esp in 1st innings) and out of the 3 pacers, only 1 or at best 2 will be bowling well. After a couple of spells, they run out of steam,, and we are at the mercy of the opposition's batting. 4 pacers keeps them in the game for longer periods. I can imagine attack of Zak, Umesh, Bhuvi, Pankaj, Jadeja doing much better than like say Zak, Umesh, Bhuvi and Ashwin. Another option that could turn out good in SA and Aus is Zak, Umesh, Bhuvi/Pankaj, Irfan, Jadeja that gives more batting depth still having good bowling options (of course assuming Irfan is fit and in form).
Please do not bring in Zak. He should be in the same category as She-wag, Harbhajan, Sachin who are not the answer anymore. This guy cannot even be fit for 2 straight games, let alone lead a bowling attack.

Jadeja always had the potential like many Indian domestic cricketers. He just now has the backing of his captain and coach which players like Mazumdar and jaffer never had.

I hope he does, may be another 12-15 tests in the next 2 years. There's a chance he can play again if he has the desire. Retire from ODIs, T20s pronto. After IPL, there's 6 months before SA series. Get fit, play FC cricket whenever possible. I've huge respect for Zak. 2006-2011, he was one of the main reasons for India being a good test team, both home and away. He was our best bowler in that period, both home and away. So yeah, if he gets fit, he could still be very good, bowling along with a decent group of bowlers like Umesh, Bhuvi, PK, Pankaj, Ojha, Ashwin, Jaddu, in decent form.

I don't care about Zak's fitness tbh. Not when there is such a huge gulf between him and the rest once the ball is 25 overs+ old. Not a single Indian pacer is going to trouble a saffie state XI in those conditions except for Zak and very very occasionally, Umesh. Period. Bhuvi, Ishant, is not even remotely as good as Zak with the old ball. Yes, he will not be fit for the whole series, but if Zak is fit for one test, that alone is good enough for me to have him in the team, such is the quality gap between him and the rest for old ball bowling. If India is not to get 0-3 in South Africa, we need a bit more than 'first 15 overs of damage, then hope they get out till the new ball is due again'. For that is what our current attack minus Zak is like.

As for Jaddu, anyone who thinks he can be a better bowler overseas than Ashwin, he is dreaming. Jaddu does not have much variation to pose anything more than a strictly containing bowler (might pick up a wicket once in a while) in Saffieland. He is a kind of bowler who is much more effective with another spinner at the other end, because he is a 'capitalize on mistakes, often due to seeds of doubt planted by the other bowler' type. He needs to prove it with the bat, if he gets an opportunity next test to make a legit case for being in the XI for Saffieland. Otherwise, he should be in the XI as Ashwin's backup.

Don't we need such a bowler. Or do you want someone who can give runs from one end and free up the pressure when one bowler is bowling tight and planting seeds of doubt.

Sure, on home pitches. Don't know how effective such bowlers will be on their own in foreign conditions and frankly, i don't think there is room enough for both Jadeja and Ashwin on the team in South Africa. As such, i think Jadeja's bowling is of value with another spinner at the other end. This is unlikely in South Africa IMO, as India should go with a bonafide #6 and Dhoni back at #7. If Jadeja can prove to be a competent #6, it might work but he's a huge gamble in South African conditions IMO- both as batsman and bowler.

Jadeja deserves to be in the squad due his strong domestic record. And Jadeja deserves to be in the test due to his good start and continuous improvement. I am not sure why that is hard to understand. Haters will continue to talk about his eventually failure and how he should not play because he will fail sometime in future. Not much substance....
