I would even suggest playing with 5 bowlers away if we can get Irfan Pathan's swing bowling back and him batting at 8 or 9 with B Kumar at 10 and Umesh at 11. The lower order could look like this: 6. Dhoni 7. Jadeja 8. Pathan (only if he finds his swing bowling form) 9. Ashwin 10. B Kumar 11. Umesh

No way Jadeja should be playing at no.7 in SA. Dhoni at 6 and Jadeja at 7 against against 2nd new ball be only result in disastrous collapses.

Panesar looked unplayable against us, see how he's struggling in NZ. Jadeja needs to add a lot more to his bowling to be our no 1 spinner. Accuracy is his strength but on surfaces where the ball doesn't grip the surface accuracy alone will not result in successes. Ashwin (using off spinners as a stock ball and not bowling too many variations) is right now the no 1 spinner and will remain so for sometime.

That's to long a tail. We have to stick to 7+4 formula, ideally both at home and away.

Jadeja has already been a revelation but if he learns to vary his pace - bowl at 70, 80, 90, 100 kph and also learns to flight the ball to get more turn and bite out of the surface, he will become an even better bowler. Ashwin has these capabilities, along with his other variations.

Jadeja hardly deviates from his line & length. Ashwin needs to start being more consistent and Jaddu needs to prove he can be useful in not so helpful conditions.

Panesar looked unplayable against us' date=' see how he's struggling in NZ. [/quote'] Agree. Quite an overreaction. Panesar is a bit erratic at times, but otherwise his style is similar to Jaddu. Pace+Revs and minimum flight and he hasn't done too well non-turners.

Yes, Jadeja's strength is his accuracy and when the ball starts to turn, its a little hard to pick which one is turning and which one is not because of his action. Also, the pace at which he bowls doesnt give much time for the batsman to react. Ashwin has also learned in this series to be lot more patient and hence has been lot more effective.
