Here is the list of Indian openers performance in SA since SA was reinstated as a test playing nation. We don't exactly find an Andrew strauss or Matthew Hayden there do we? Gambhir not a opener then. :giggle: Or the others with decent averages. I'll be happy if they both average 35, even let alone 60 +.

Hmm Murali did have a clue in tests before IPL destroyed it, so no can't say the same. They are all different. Also, our opener choices are limited, whereas middle order choices are several. I would bet on Rayudu or Manoj Tiwary before Rahane.
