saneindian Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Obviously all three of them will now be in selectors plans for ODIs, Pujara is already a part of the ODI 15, so naturally he should be the first choice. But will that weak knee cut short his ODI career for the time being? If it does, then Dhawan looks the next logical choice. Vijay IMO should not be disturbed right now by being given an ODI spot and instead should focus on test cricket. The next question would be where does these leave Rohit's ODI career?
yoda Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Dhawan, obviously. Vijay should stick to tests for now and Pujara can come in at Dravid's spot in ODIs as well or may be 1 down there.
Magneto Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Rohit would soon find himself in the middle order after India loses a couple of tournaments. Between Vijay and Dhawan, the one who does the best in IPL wins the race. Pujara is anyday a better option than either of them anyway.
Number Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Pujara should be kept fit for tests. He is too brittle and I don't want to risk him in ODIs. Vijay hasn't been good in LOIs. Dhawan should be in. Rohit is not an intl batsman. He is another wankhede specialist like Jaffer.
Lord Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Dhawan and Pujara Rohit n GG need to be kicked out:poink:
rkt.india Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 No Pujara. Your best batsmen should not face new ball first up. If I was the coach I would hold back Pujara and Kohli for 4, 5, or 6. EDIT: I am talking about test in SA. Pujara should open in ODIs. He has all the shots and compact.

vvvslaxman Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 M Vijay has to develop as a test player. picking him in ODIs will undo all the hardwork he did in Tests. He is not good at making the switch .
Sooda Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 ^ Yes Im worried that the IPL will set him back to the 'airy drives outside offstump' Vijay of old. Dhawan should open he has always been a good List A player in domestics, Pujara at 3. Kohli, MSD, Raina, Jadeja...
NareshK Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I think opening in ODIs especially overseas might prove a bit tricky. Because of the 2 new ball rule, there might be some help for seamers. Need openers with good technique and temperament. Pujara, Dhawan and Vijay could fit the bill as top 3 batsmen.

GautiMaan Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Pujara's innings of 150 odd in the challenger series, what a knock!.Its pathetic that he hasnt broken into the ODI team yet

rkt.india Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Daaru is more likely. PS: Didnt read about ODI and talked about tests in SA.
