Pondulkar = Ponting + Tendulkar. Should they continue to open in the rest of the games or should one of them drop down as they are not quick enough for T20 format ?

Biggest mistake is getting them out too soon. A wise opposition captain will allow those two to bat 10-12 overs. Then game in opposition pocket :) These two in T20 are like erstwhile "Sanjay Manjrekar in ODIs of 80s/90s" You should let those players bat many overs and they will cause team to self-destruct with their slow strike rate :)

In one of our inter-school 20 over matches, a batsman from the opposition kept tuk-tuking (like RD, if I may add). So, we kept dropping his catches intentionally to use up the overs. His coach got mad and asked his batsman to hit the wicket deliberately. And, the stupido obliged :hehe:

Dying flame might flicker once before it dies' date= both should retire from international cricket , especially Tendulkar a few years back:sad:
Yahaan pe to flickering hue bhi 2 saal+ ho gaye :hysterical: But IMO I wouldn't drop Tendulkar if I'm Mumbai owner. They must be making millions out of Tendulkar brand and association of Tendulkar with Mumbai and at the end of the day it's business and if I can make more money by losing with Tendulkar in the team I will do so. Pity BCCI does the same as well and that's where the problem lies

I guess the thinking and the inspiration behind this Ponting/Sachin opening parternship was Rahane/Dravid of RR last season. Both were the best opening pair last year and showed "classic" players can do and start well. So the logic itself by MI is correct. But the problem here, both are simply out of form. And 2 games, is not a enough time to judge. With time and their hard work, this partnership should succeed I believe.
