SLICKR392 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I think u mean odi wc.In t20 wc even in last one dhoni struggled against england' date='australia and in wi he and indian team were exposed on a bouncy track by aussie pacers.[/quote'] He got us some runs in the last one against SA where he took on Steyn apart from that he din't really fail other matches apart from Eng where he got 9 of 11 balls in the death.
Sidhoni Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 T20Is are normally one off games here and there in a series where even the players don't give a feck. What players and fans care about is the WT20, where Dhoni has a decent record. Though I agree he has not fulfilled his potential in T20Is.
Magneto Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Dhoni is just an average T20 player, will play a few good knocks but will struggle mostly.

Is that why he still continues to lead the side despite failure after failure while even successful teams from previous World events change their leadership?
Sidhoni Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Is that why he still continues to lead the side despite failure after failure while even successful teams from previous World events change their leadership? Yes.And you can't blame only him for the losses. Our batsmen were dancing at the sight oh short balls in WI, bowling attack has never been great. We were lucky that Yuvi was in sublime form in 2007 where he won us matches single handedly. I thought we had a really good chance last year, and went very close, losing just one match on our way. With the next 2 WT0s in SC(Bangladesh and India), I feel we can reach at least the semis both times.
saneindian Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Sorry he doesn't have any rights to continue playing the T20Is forget leading the side. Just look at our pathetic record in T20s against top 8 teams. If the likes of Sehwag and Zaheer are out due to non performance, so should he from the T20s.
JourneyMan Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Dhoni is cricket's version of Rafael Nadal. He achieved more than what anyone expected him to and through brutal strength and fighting spirit he managed success in formats where he was written off.
adi B Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Not who' date=' but what - his pathetic record in international T20s.[/quote'] agree, ipl is not the indicator how good a t20 player one is
Vanarp22 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Dhoni is a really good T20 player, case closed. But not as good as he is in ODIs. Plus in all formats he has Srini Mama's blessing and needs it. :hysterical:

yoda Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 He plays better in IPL than in T20 Internationals. Even in the IPL, he has this tendency to ignore the asking rate or match situation and enter a long period of tuk tuk only to make the match more interesting than it needs to be or end up setting a much lower total than we need to.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Anyone wanna guess the number of fifties that kaptaan koolie has scored in international t20s?
Crookbond Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 The T20 team has to start afresh on a clean slate - we don't have good T20 players (batsmen plus bowlers) apart from Yuvraj Singh. If you start looking at individual records, we would have to field a Syed Mushtaq Ali team for the WT20 and even that would suck.

Now back on Dhoni topic, he is simply an excellent player when the team are in pressure. He has shown that regularly in ODIs but recently he has been doing that in both tests and odis. Now that improvement and something which deserves credit.

Executioner Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Only shahadat can deliver this sort of a performance!!! Srilanka were struggling under our spinner's web, then came shahadat hossain scoring 54 from his quota of 4 overs. Dhoni cannot do that :finger:
