I gotta say love these guys. They really play as a team. Each man gives a 100% for his captain and his team. No bickering. Self-less captain. No egos. Even "no homework" Watson tempered into the epitome of the team player. Each man giving his all and rejoicing in the triumphs of his team mates. An encapsulation of all that cricket is. Today was fantastic. Loved every minute. Hope they get into the playoffs! Gauti and the "...loads of money!!!" teams have so much to learn.

Very true. They seem to be everyone's second choice team after the home team. Rahul Dravid is admired everywhere because of his humility and straight-forward attitude and the players just go about their job without much fuss. I hope they make the play-offs too.

Not really following the IPL, read somewhere about their moneyball inspired picks. Do they have players who are not big names but consistently contributing to the results ?

No - not entirely "Moneyball" inspired.

Really? Loved the movie. SRH looks like the "moneyball" team. Nobody cares and even now don't give it a chance but is still sticking it out there. :beee:

RR are not exactly a money ball team. They have spent nearly 8.5 million on players compared to the big teams like Mumbai CSK who spend 12.5 million USD. In the film money ball you were talking about huge differences between top and bottom teams. RR have spent wisely more than anything. Somebody like Rahane at RR is getting about $100,000. Which is dirt cheap for the performances he has given them in the past 2 season. The thing about RR is that they dont waste their money. They spend it wisely. Sunrisers as well are not a money ball team. They have spending the full $12.5 million. However they wasted big money on players like Dan christian last season and even Sanga this season or even Cameron White. Thats buying dud players.

Well Rahul Dravid has now pwned Sachin (who had 1 great season), Dada, VVS in term of longetivity in IPL. Even Yuvi and Sehwag have fallen on the wayside
For all their talent,Yuvi & Sehwag have bad work ethic... RD on the other hand has a great work ethic & further he took off from his commentary duties to prepare for IPL. Have heard Kohli has good work ethics too:two_thumbs_up:

For me its not just about Dravid. Its about how Warne took a team of no names and won them the IPL via inspirational leadership. There is something romantic about that.

Yes Everyone's second team. None's first team. :giggle:
:headshake: I started liking RR due to Dravid and now its hard to root for any other team apart from RR. Similar to how I hated ManU due to Ronaldo, its hard to like them now.
