Captaincy is overrated in cricket. It's the coach that teaches the team.
Another overrated position. India won 2007 T20 WC without a proper coach.

Who can forget Rohit's tactical nous when he bowled Harbhajan against Yusuf when he had Malinga and Johnson in the team
That's a bait.

That's his first over of the first match as captain.... And you conveniently forgot how he lead Mumbai's recovery from there on and got KKR restricted to manageable total of <160 and then chased it as well. It is not about not making mistakes when leadership is tested but it is how you react to when situations seem to go awry and even then stand up and put your best to get it right!:nice:

In t20, the shortest format it's not that difficult to play without a coach.

In the absence of Dhoni in T20, i think either Kohli or Raina will take over. Definitely not Rohit sharma. This guy doesn't know the meaning of consistency ... First he has to ensure his place. 28 T20 innings. 11 of them single digit scores. That is almost 40% .

I think its fair to say that rohit has a much better bowling line up Its always going to be easier to captain Malinga Johnson Bhajji and Ojha compared to Rampaul, Vinay, RP and Murali Kartick. If i was captain and RP was bowling in the death overs even i would MC/BC. Its like Ponting being captain of McGrath Warne Lee and Gillespie.

Both are premium dhakkans.....the thing is, one actually performs in relevant matches......btw, IPL captaincy is not an accurate yardstick of their abilities tbh.....

Captaincy is overrated in T20. most of the teams give away 175+ scores in the field, so if some team chases that score and wins what is the contribution of Captain in that win? [leaving batting out ]
Wrong. Captaincy is the most thing in T20s and even more so than other formats. A single bad decision like one over can simply change the match. Getting a good captain is the primary reason to do well.

Whom should Kohli thrown ball during last few overs against Kings 11 ?

Rohit it seems like has some "luck" which is very much needed if one is to become a good captain. Dhoni seems the another good example.

Field settings, asking bowlers to bowl better lengths. There are many things one can look to change. But it's important to get that change right. Kohli failed that day together with his costly drop catch. Only goes to prove having a performer captain is critical to your success in T20s. And how captaincy plays a very big role in T20s.

That he does well :giggle: But as i mentioned in earlier post even if your team give away 170+ score in field you can still win if batting is good.

Reminds me of Richie Benaud's quote on captaincy.

@thread, A prime example of Kohli's naiveté in captaincy was his ill preparation to deal with Miller. In the previous games, Kings XI chases have hindered on Marsh and Miller. The issue with Miller is that he can hit straight very well and his hitting V is quite small. This was exploited the other day by CSK by keeping fielders at long on and long off straight. Kohli IMO hadn't done his HW on Miller, call Micky Arthur I say!
