Detonator Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 And who supervises the IPL and Shukla bhaiyya? Team India was never the core point of my argument. I was referring to Srinivasan owning CSK while heading BCCI. You keep going off on tangent on a topic which is about conflict of interest. With the above logic, Shashank Manohar should'nt be heading BCCI and Vidharba Cricket Board. And Sharad Pawar should be ICC VP, while heading BCCI and Maharastra cricket board. No one raised questions during their time Who are these majority of people who have specifically said Srinivasan being Tamilian is an issue? Point me to them please. Everything will not be explicitly said. Media has this selective blindness and bias for years. Yet again, using one wrong to justify another. Also, there are many promising players who don't make it to the national squad. Yes, I just gave Sharath as example as he is the most well known, and holds a number of records in First class..
Detonator Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 @Detonator i dont know why your getting defensive. spot fixing aside there have been so many issues with Srinivasan. I personally dont think he is corrupt in cricket. He makes **** loads of money outside cricket with cement. but its the nepotism and small mindedness which is making India and the BCCI hated all around the cricketing world. Agree. They why target Srini alone? We Indians shld go with relatively good guys..
G_B_ Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Agree. They why target Srini alone? We Indians shld go with relatively good guys.. maybe the solution lay in a council rather than a single president... i agree with you that Srini alone is not to blame. But we are in such a place that unfortunately he is the most well known bcci admin. For the sake of the game, heads have to role before the game loses all credibility.
Raghav_12 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Yoda and Detonator defending him because they think he is being targeted because he is Tamilian and that's the only reason they are jumping to defend him. While people demanding his resignation are asking for it on cricketing and administrative reasons. This is stupid to play such victim card. People in public life are castigated left, right and center all the time on ICF and nobody comes up with such victim mentality. Rajiv Shukla is abused in similar way, but nobody comes and say that he is being targeted because he is Delhite. Get out of this complex and be open minded. You may see the bigger picture.
saneindian Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 "Indian media discriminates against TN cricketers" What kind of an argument is this? TN has to be the biggest cricket center in India not to have produced an Indian legend so far. Venkat would perhaps come closest to being the biggest TN player. The reason being people simply haven't grabbed their chances. WV Raman, Badani, Sriram, Badri, DK, Balaji, Kumaran - the list is long. Also, the fact cricket in TN seems limited to pockets of Chennai alone . How many Ranji cricketers are there from centers like Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore?

How many players from outside Mumbai? granted mumbai has produce indian legends like hazare Gavaskar and Sachin. But till i cant think of a single big legand from Maharashtra or Viderbha. Nadkarni comes the closest.

Nadkarni comes the closest. Maharashtra or Vidarbha have not been as strong in domestic cricket as TN. Have mostly been a 2nd tier team, so not a surprise for them not to have great Indian players. TN OTOH is a major team and I have always been amused by how they have not been able to have a surperstar from there. Even bengal had Dada :P
Detonator Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 "Indian media discriminates against TN cricketers" What kind of an argument is this? I m just giving TN as example.. Mumbai, Delhi has always powerful lobbies, which I feel they ensure certain players to be selected over more deserving players.. TN has to be the biggest cricket center in India not to have produced an Indian legend so far. Venkat would perhaps come closest to being the biggest TN player. Also, the fact cricket in TN seems limited to pockets of Chennai alone . How many Ranji cricketers are there from centers like Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore? The biggest reason in TN is education.. Almost every school stuffs this on student's throats, "Sports bad, studies good". Only a handful of schools (mainly chennai) encourages cricket.. Coimbatore (which is my home town) schools, are bit against cricket.. we used to play for time pass, since most people feel that cricket is too much crowded, so try to find a niche in other sports.. It also has a long history in auto-racing.. will post it in detail after IPL.. :winky:
diga Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I m just giving TN as example.. Mumbai' date=' Delhi has always powerful lobbies, which I feel they [b']ensure certain players to be selected over more deserving players.. like Vijay over Pujara...:--D
superstar Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 like Vijay over Pujara...:--D What is wrong? For 10 years we had no player from TN :(( Now deal with Vijay jokers :hysterical:
Detonator Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 like Vijay over Pujara...:--D Pujara is not an opener  If you look closely, Rohit Sharma is selected over Pujara for the No.3 rd spot..
G_B_ Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 What is wrong? For 10 years we had no player from TN :(( Now deal with Vijay jokers :hysterical: what are you talking about you had Balaji and Dinesh Kartick from 2000-2010 not to mention Vijay himself The likes of Balaji Ashwin, Badri, Vijay and KKD have made their appearances in various formats in from the past 13 years. Before that you had the likes of Ramesh and Sriram. Granted to date maybe Ashwin aside nobody has been a mainstay in the Indian team. But there guys have been given chances.
adi B Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I don't know about others but I just do not give a damn as to where Srini comes from, it just doesn't matter for me. What matters is the HUGE conflict of interest - the guy is the BCCI Prez and at the same time he owns an IPL team but his bhakts just don't see anything wrong it that. Then there was the news about how he manipulated the selection committee to keep Dhoni as Captain when everyone wanted to sack him after the 8-0 loss. He is corrupt, manipulative businessman who only wants to earn profits and doesn't give a sh!t about the development of Indian cricket. I really cannot understand how such a man can have so many fans despite what he has done to Indian cricket. precisely this from start to finish
SLICKR392 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 and ignoring uthappa from 30 probables always and contract list and including vijay ..:winky: :giggle:

CSK Fan Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Are people really making this a region issue now? Really ashamed of such fellow Indians. Have we been so divided only in 6 years of IPL? Dude your first loyalty should be to your country always and not to your region
Detonator Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Are people really making this a region issue now? Really ashamed of such fellow Indians. Have we been so divided only in 6 years of IPL? Dude your first loyalty should be to your country always and not to your region Regional bias is always been around in terms of politics. Period. I ve posted a few points about this above . This thread is in IPL forum, so I took it as another banter against CSK.. Just see a few comments here.. It started when Ragav told people r defending him becoz he is from a specific region.. I m not blaming anyone here but the media for this.. I don't think Indian cricket or BCCI will become any better if he goes..
Mariyam Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Oh please stop the BS - Badrinath is from TN. What other proof do you need? Badrinath is in Uttarakhand, not TN.
