the don Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 pace alone will not suffice .pak has a good attack but a right armer would add variety . A few runs to play with would b nice too on occasions , asad ali is the right rmer and he is pretty good.

Pakistan need to invest in genuine batters, India needs to plan ahead and seriously look at Shukla, Suyal to bolster their pace attack , also with Varun making a comeback things are looking good, why ain't anyone looking at Anwar Ahmed who is a very very tall left handed fast bowler who bowls with good pace and has a good action , see what Md Irfan does for Paki attack.

Agree. I would like Aaron,Shukla, Suyal, Kaul, Shami, Dhawal and Anwar Ahmed in our bowling pool. Having a) genuine quicks , b) skilled pacers and c) tall bouncy pacers in the bowling pool is necessary.

Ishant bowled short but all his bouncers rose upto shoulder height and he did Get 3 wickets and also Man of Match award. Umesh tOok No wickets but gave 30 runs of 8 overs Ishant took 3 for 33 of 9 overs Bhuvi gave 16 runs of 8 overs n got 1 Though u guys may feel Umesh bowled well but I thought That he purposefully slowed down a lot and could not Exploit the conditions to the fullest..... His strength is pace and he bowled under 142 all the time and many balls close to 136 He got some swing but I feel he could have bowled much Better and got 2 to 3 Wickets for sure. Than Dhoni has Good 5 bowlers bowling himself was not required..... He underbowled all his pace bowlers under pace friendly Conditions......

He has said that Umesh has to maintain his composure and bowl in the right areas and NOT GO FOR EXTRA PACE. He has not said that Umesh should learn control while bowling at pace. Kapil Dev has said similar things about Umesh. That is perhaps the reason why Umesh is bowling under 141 k and Ishant is generally bowling under 138 k. So, we have a Umesh Yadav who is as erratic as before and 7 k slower and not taking the wickets he used to take with extra speed. Way to go. Why can't the Indian cricketing fraternity encourage practicing control at high pace by practicing really hard ?

But what worries me is the attitude of going fo control without going for extra pace. There are so many pacers who have both by putting in hours of practice. We have had so many pacers reducing pace and not having sufficient impact that this mentality of control instead of pace is perhaps present in our cricketing fraternity. It seems that most Indian cricketers don't believe that control and pace can coexist.

Old guy Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 yadav got cook which was big reason we won as we all saw in india cook can easily play these spinners even on turners .. over all whole bowling line up did well in final bhuvan choked a bit but yadav stepped up in semi both bhuvi and yadav bowled well and before that bhuvi help us win 2 games and yadav got 2 key wickets in first game spinners were brilliant in all games and ishant was luckiest bowler of the tournament other than the sri lanka game where he bowled one good spell :P

express bowling Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Umesh had bowled 137 to 147 k in the first 3 matches including the practice match. This is his normal speed. But in the last 3 matches he has bowled 135 k to 142 k and taken less wickets. He should go back to his normal speed.

If Dhoni needs a 135 to 138K line n length bowler outside offstump even VK Or Shammi or Dhwal or few other bowlers wud do the trick..... Dhoni needs to use Yadav as a more attacking OPTION Rather than a defensive run Stopping machine bcos I feel yadav Or for That matter Morkel for africa or Tino Best of WI will always Go For runs but they can get valuable wickets
