gattaca Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 If he can continue his form in the champions trophy. I think we should send him to SA. He is not a slogger and he looks calm and has good temperament.
namasteji1 Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Ofcourse, i remember his innings in England. Even Boycott said that his footwork was superb!!
suraj Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 seems to be in touch - will be harsh to not give him a chance at his prime
vvvslaxman Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Anyway we need a backup wicket keeper. So not that difficult to find a place for him.
JourneyMan Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 With DK, PP and MS, we might end up fielding three keepers at the same time.
vvvslaxman Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 He is still a poor keeper Don't think PP is a great keeper either. Saha is barely average too. Weighing pros and cons he would trump most of the keepers as an overall package. Also he could serve as an opener removing the burden of carrying backup opener.

vvvslaxman Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Saha is definitely better keepr than DK' date='probably best in India.Pappu is pathetic[/quote'] Pretty bad against spinners. Saha. He was searching treasure lot of time. Dhoni is better against spinners. Point is even if he is better it is not big enough to pick him purely as a wicketkeeper.
Sachin=GOD Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 there'a a lot of time still left for SA to make any such decisions..
rkt.india Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 A middle order slot is open I think at 6. DK can get that.
saneindian Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Needs to first grab his chances in the ODIs, lots of them to be played before the SA tour. Minimum 3 here, 4 in the WI-SL Tri series, 7 vs Aus, 14 in all. Add a few more for a filler ODI series which BCCI will surely organize during Aug-Sept in India.
maniac Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Yes DK merits his place as a batsman alone...better than Dhoni in tests

It is his ability to adapt to different surfaces like SA/England. Even if Raina or other ODI players score volume of runs in those one dayers i won't still be sure whether they would click in SA.
vvvslaxman Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 ^^ but do we have any test series in btw ? None. All ODIs. ZImboks, OZ one dayers.
Ibes Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Yes. He was the only batsman not to go into a shell during the 2006 tour.

Typical raina dismissal 9.6 this wasn't a short ball and it didn't swing much either but Raina is gone. It pitched on leg stump and was going straight, Raina goes back in the crease to play it off his pads and misses it completely as he was standing in front of the off stump. The ball hits middle and leg stumps. Raina was expecting a short one there 39/4 They work him with the short ball and then he "expects" it and gone.
