Team India - What's different this time?

A team that is not built on individual players or glories? A team which has just two players on the wrong side of 30? With the oldest of them being Dhoni who is just 31? A team whose average age is just 27 but already has 9 players who have played atleast 50 ODIs? A team whose core players have played together for atleast 3-4 years now, with 11 players having debuted in or before 2009? A team whose pack is indisputably led by one man, Dhoni, who towers above other individuals both in terms of experience and charisma? A team that is not afraid of failure and goes out to play and enjoy their cricket? Without having to worry about personal milestones? A team that has players unburdened by the sheer weight of their own achievements? Something's really different with this team. Thoughts?

Main reason is form. But Kohli's dip in run scoring form after 3 years of dream run is well compensated by others. He is still striking beautifully but getting out before even getting fully set.

Favourable conditions, guys in form, new guys staking a claim and competition for places , also good fielding and playing aggressive and smart cricket, bowling still not the best and can improve need to test some good seamers, Suyal, Pankaj , Shami, Pandey and hopefully Aaron will comeback soon.

In before this becomes a thread about bashing a certain someone :vroam:

Dhawan. Period. This guy has a contagious syndrome. The confidence he oozes is just mind blowing! What a player! What an attitude! Mr. Rat Kohli, this is how you should play cricket. This is the way you conquer the world

1. India are a team which depend on good starts. If our openers play well, we are bound to put on a good show. Most Indian victories/good shows have resulted on good foundations. 2. Weather in England has been very kind as of now, the pitches depend on weather and hence the familiar conditions 3. The white ball batch this summer is quite bad for bowlers and not at all great for swing bowlers. It kills the most potent weapon bowlers have in England. With 2 new balls, reverse swing in ODI is as rare as a polar bear.

There is no expectations. All the focus is away from them, and our Indian team has always done well when the pressure is off them. Best example is T20 2007 where nobody expected anything, yet India won and that changed Dhoni's life forever. Hopefully, this competition will be the catalyst for several players.

Every milestone is established when you walk a mile and every mile is important in a journey as it reduces the distance.

lol that was quick. Someone is already hurt with this thread when he himself wastes no time in pulling down other players in thread after thread! Op topic, form of the top order and Jadeja's bowling has helped us. key question is can the team sustain this form? Kohli, Raina and Dhoni need to be back among runs for us to go all the way.

as many have mentioned the conditions have most certainly helped. the new ball is just not swingining. The pitches are spinning more than usual. Many english commentators and players too are very surprised by this.

This is Dhoni's team. Most senior player, he can do what he wants. he doesn't have people like Sehwag/Gambhir feeling the greed for captaincy. He can pick who he wants, no groups in the team now.

Interesting, hope you continue to hold the same view when the team isn't doing well too.

Interesting' date=' hope you continue to hold the same view when the team isn't doing well too.[/quote'] Yup I will. I think the team has already exceeded the expectations of plenty around here. Most were saying we won't even win a match blah blah blah. Even if the team doesn't go on to win the CT(which I hope is not the case), the team would have still done pretty well.

We have won a good match v SA and that is it so far...lets see how we do over a period of 3-6 months and in tests abroad. England pitches are also not playing how they have done in the past which has helped us.
