Sachin=GOD Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Taarak Mehta is decent. the problem with that show is that most of the time they are celebrating festivals/events so nowadays there's less humor in it but yeah, its still decent as compared to other shows.

It's like a satirical sitcom.
Rocky Balboa Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Home improvement was one hell of a series. My favt
punjabi_khota Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Tatti hai tatti, Indian tv pe sirf tatti Comedy ke naam pe over the top shenanigans, like mehta ka tedha chashma or chidiyaghar...SO ****ING BAD... Thriller ke naam ke CID :WTF: Baaki soaps to har desh mein ghatiya hain
trundlerNO1 Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Gumrah: End of Innocence is the only show worthwhile seeing
The Outsider Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I watched SRGMP and Indian Idol. Even shows like KBC is catered for the LCD. Atleast American TV on cable is still good. Quite a few good drama/action series. Good tv for mature adults in India happened only in the 80s-early 90s with DD. With Cable tv (Zee' date= Sony, Star), the quality went downhill. I think regular cable is pretty ordinary. Shows on premium channels like HBO and Showtime are generally very good though.
Desi Cartman Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Everything is messed up. Things I hate about Indian TV 1. Over dressed actresses in daily soaps.i don't know about content as I don't watch it much but one thing I know is that career woman is usually bad/tharki while housewife is ideal wife . 2: 45 year olds judging 5 year old kids, the kids are in so much pressure. all kids are almost in tears half the time. All contestants have a sorry story to tell. 3. Judges are super humans and even their colleagues address them as SIR. All ****ing people are SIR even Ritesh deshmukh who for some weird reason is a judge in a dance show is also called Sir by his own colleagues. 4. Arnab goswami 5. News channels inviting 6 people on the talk show and always there will be at least 1-2 people who won't get to say a single word. These poor guys would keep staring and they are just these to fill the screen.
PriyankaSR Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 It's portraying the common family, middle class society in India. It's like a satirical sitcom. Oh boy. Common, middle class families in India are not like they show it. Everything they show is utopian.
coffee_rules Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I think regular cable is pretty ordinary. Shows on premium channels like HBO and Showtime are generally very good though. Breaking Bad, Mad Men on AMC is as good as any show on the premium channels. Even on FX, some sitcoms are notable - ALways Sunny.
Swing_n_Speed Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I enjoyed the lifestyle channels like NDTvgood times, TLC etc So I'd fluctuate between the finance channels like CNBC, NdTV Profit etc and the lifestyle channels. Then again I love cooking so I kinda enjoyed those shows. I never did bother with the rest of the channels apart from news channels from time to time.
I6MTW Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Seinfeld was always one of the best comedy sitcoms ever.
The Outsider Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Breaking Bad, Mad Men on AMC is as good as any show on the premium channels. Even on FX, some sitcoms are notable - ALways Sunny. I always thought Breaking Bad was a HBO show - only watched it on Netflix. Yeah, some of them are pretty good but there is a lot of trash like Burn Notice as well.
1983-2011 Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 It's portraying the common family, middle class society in India. It's like a satirical sitcom. Its bollocks now, yesterday they were celebrating exam results
Lord Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 the problem with that show is that most of the time they are celebrating festivals/events so nowadays there's less humor in it but yeah' date=' its still decent as compared to other shows.[/quote'] Its earlier episodes were good, but now it has run too long and it seems they've run out of ideas I like 'Lapataganj'.slapstick but good.happy its back:dance:
Sachin=GOD Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Its bollocks now' date=' yesterday they were celebrating exam results[/quote'] :hysterical: Lapataganj was also good earlier but then became boring. Will start watching it again now...
Prakat Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 In all my years of suffering through awful programming on Indian TV the best show ever was Dare to Date on Channel V. Brilliant premise, funny anchor with an actual personality that didn't need to be buried under a written script and great execution that always struck the right tone.
FischerTal Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 best show on Indian TV was sarabhai vs sarabhai. Best character was Indravadhan(Satish Shah)
