We beat everyone with ease back then, often winning with 6 to 8 wickets in hand batting second. And a spin-bowling allrounder named Ravi came through with crucial contributions - won an Audi for his efforts. Nowadays, he's turned into an annoying commentator spraying tracer bullets all over the place! Another odd co-incidence, that tournament was also held a couple of years after India had won the world cup. Let's hope India spanks the whining pommies in the final and history repeats itself fully. The only part I wouldn't want happening again - winning captain announcing that he's stepping down.

He also said that India should have won the 1987 WC and nearly the same set of players failed quite badly in Australia in 1992.

Yes, for all of Kapil's contributions to Indian cricket - his foolish captaincy and foolish batting in the semi-final vs England cost us that world cup.

But there was one villain despite winning man of the series :cantstop: . Ravi Shastri. Who played mainly for AUDI car. Srikkanth played selfless knocks. India was unstoppable.

You may have gotten things mixed up in your old age :winky: He played extremely slowly in final to nail that car. Infact it was discussed in the commentary itself later in all the news paper. Srikkanth was his competition. If Srikkanth had scored say a 100 runs he would have won it.

Where they beat everyone but got hammered in the final. you mean 2003 wc, no but Aus trashed us twice...both ways once bowled us out for 121 and got them in like 25 overs and then scored like a mountain of 359 and ind has no chance while chasing.. we beat everyone else...thats like total ownage from Aussies..
