zumi Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Now what Rahul Gandhi is doing is called publicity. Going to the crisis zone' date=' to show face and get the limelight only. He is not going there to do any actions but do gain words of appreciation. Already the spin machine is out there with praises of how "brave" Rahul Gandhi is to face such tragedy directly.[/quote'] also don't forget, the usual abuse and jeers he gets when ever he goes out in public unstaged:giggle:
Khalpat Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 The discussion level of this site also goes down when people make kaanspiracy theory statements to concoct truth as "political correctness"; may be next time you can think of taking care of that too. Errr. Didn't get it mate but whatever it is I will surely take care.
Crookbond Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Errr. Didn't get it mate but whatever it is I will surely take care. How can you take care of something which you do not know? :dontknow: http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showpost.php?p=2502015&postcount=37

That is why I called it politically correct statement. Comeon you are equating my compliment to you with a gutterish language against the Vice President of the democratically elected largest party of India. That is unfair man. Now since I got what actually you meant I take back my sentence that I will take care in future. I do not think complimenting someone will degrade the forum.

Khalpat miyaa, Context is everything and I may have got it wrong. Now consider this statement, "Let us celebrate our martyrs :isalute:" Prima facie this looks like a good, positive statement. What if I tell you that this was said by Osama Bin Laden? Well, now it looks different. Anyways, I thought you weren't complimenting me but if it was thanks a lot! :icflove:
moniker Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I don't understand this hoopla on this so-called "controversy". I've seen so many people spout out four letter words in English without a care, but feel extremely hesitant to do the same in their regional languages. I think they somehow equate abusing in regional languages as being lowly and cheap but doing the same in English is somehow cool. An abuse is an abuse people! I'm sure you wouldn't prefer bring called mofo to mc, will you?
asterix Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 fantastic, atta boy, rahul party in spain for a week whilst thousands of Indians are dying, then comeback get your ugly face plastered on relief trucks for the millions effected victims to remind them how great Rahul Gandhi is by giving them free food (funded by taxpayers money) and where is media? how are two non-government people taking limelight for a government funded relief effort????? advance thumbs for the chewtiya voters who will make him PM News is that the 3 day delayed convoy of trucks are now stuck in Rishikesh and can't move further. The Congress workers are nowhere to be seen and the truck drivers are running low on money, food and fuel. They're planning to sell the goods to get their money back and go back... There was a small news clip about it in NDTV... Pretty pathetic state of affairs...
adi B Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 ^yeah some news channels even interviewed those drivers, they said they were running low on petrol, didnt have enough money to reach the destination..pathetic gimmick by congress and they are not even perturbed if the relief materials reach the victims .. the truck drivers..well, the less said the better
gattaca Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 ^^ you are correct. Rishikesh: On Monday morning, in a well-orchestrated photo-op, Congress President Sonia Gandhi flagged off over 100 trucks loaded with food supplies, medicines and other materials meant for Uttarakhand, where thousands of people were stranded in flash floods. Three days later, the trucks are parked at Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. They remain fully loaded. Congress leaders admitted they had no idea of where the trucks were. "I don't have any information but I know there are youth Congress members in Rudraprayag. Thanks for this information, I am not coordinating but will pass this on to those members," said party spokesperson Sandeep Dikshit. The drivers allegedly said that after reaching the state capital of Dehradun, they were asked to drive higher in the mountains to an area named Srinagar. But they are stranded en route with fuel running out. The drivers say nobody from the Newtrucksstranded295.jpg party or the government has contacted them with either assistance or directions. They claim they have no money to pay for meals or fuel. "Should we start selling these items, then," asked one of them. The enormity of both the disaster and the military's rescue operation in Uttarakhand has not inhibited parties from searching for political advantage. The trucks were sent by the Congress after a newspaper report said BJP leader Narendra Modi had pulled "a Rambo act" by flying into Uttarakhand with bureaucrats and evacuating 15,000 tourists from Gujarat, a report the BJP has dismissed as exaggerated. Mr Gandhi arrived in Uttarakhand on Monday even as Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that visits by VVIPs distract attention from rescue operations. The Congress has said that Mr Gandhi is present "as a citizen" and is not using state resources to travel to different parts of Uttarakhand. http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/after-grand-photo-op-congress-trucks-for-uttarakhand-stall-384419

There was a small news clip about it in NDTV... Pretty pathetic state of affairs... these ****-ups by Congress is not even funny anymore so no relief aid will be reaching the victims it is meant for, tax money squandered. truck drivers selling goods meant for charitable causes, trucks stranded due to no fuel and damaged roads, :hatsoff: fantastic, and as usual no Congress minister has taken responsibility of failure and resigned, this time for mismanaging the disaster relief efforts :nice: I think sh!tehead Shinde should sacrifice himself.
beetle Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Why do people have issues with Modi rescuing Gujjus? Right now he is CM of Gujrat and responsible for their well being. If he has done something then he should be appreciated. When and if he becomes PM....then expect him to help everyone. Instead of pointing fingers at him...point them at the CMs from other states who didn't lift a finger.

Laws of triage and crisis situation should dictate the rescue operations, not whether you are a Gujju or a Bong. Modi prioritizing Gujjus or Amma prioritizing the rescue of Tamils is going to lead to more deserving non-Gujju/non-Tamil being looked over in favor of Gujjus/Tamils, etc. That is inescapable fact and that is wrong. I shouldnt have to suffer around in the flood zone while a much less injured Gujju is whisked away by Modi in my own country.

Muloghonto Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Why is this an isssue ? Again I am not sure if any Non gujju will be thrown off the chopper. So' date=' what is basis to believe that there is discrimination in saving lives ?[/quote'] Because any prioritization fo saving lives that do not adhere to the laws of triage is violating the laws of triage. You cannot prioritize Gujjus to rescue without de-prioritizing non-gujjus. You either give priority on th ebasis of medical need (laws of triage) or you give priority to Gujjus which means Gujju over injured non-Gujju. It cant be both, it *has* to be one or the other! If no injured people are being thrown off the chopper to make room for Gujjus, then he isnt rescuing Gujjus, he is rescuing all Indians and his 'gujju priority' is nothing more than BS. If he is not BS-iing about saving Gujjus, then it *has* to mean 'sorry Gujjus only- everyone else can fit in only if there is room in the chopper after Gujjus are taken in'. Therefore, Modi is either lying (ie, simple propaganda he is saving Gujjus) or he is treating Gujju lives as more important than non-Gujju lives.

Muloghonto Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 what should he have done?is the centre govn doing any better? 1. He should've donated funds to the rescue operations and let the army deal with the situation on a level-of-need basis. Not on a basis that makes one Indian 'stat-izen' more important than another Indian 'state-izen'. 2. By the central govt. do you mean the congress party or the Indian military ? So far, the latter are doing a fine job while the former are crapping the bed, as usual.

So far, the latter are doing a fine job while the former are crapping the bed, as usual. Firstly, Modi did donate money and yet created controversy. The fact is simply anything which Modi does, his haters will say he should have done the opposite. If he donates 10, they will say 20. There was one perfect chart illustrating this very issue. And you are nobody to teach how one should contribute. Any Indian has rights to help any Indians in any form particular in crisis. As long as Indians are helped and mind you it was Indians, not just Gujarat, the institution/leader deserves some praise. If one's (quick) actions led to helping the needy, it's all good. And even if you cannot give any praise, then remain at least quiet instead of some nonsense criticism.
Muloghonto Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 any light on the u`khand govn' date='they were asleep for 2 days after the flood or maybe u have no hope from cong at all and think they are hopeless whereas u have hope from modi thats why u criticize him so to achieve perfection bcoz saving gujarati is good but saving citizens "non gujju and gujju" is perfection which u think he should have :nice:[/quote'] I didnt understand any of that. I am critical of Modi because his 'save Gujjus first' idea is directly violating the rights and necessity of non-Gujju Indians. last i checked, we are just as much Indians as Gujjus are so we deserve to get saved with just as much priority as Gujjus are. He is either lying about his 'save Gujjus' campaign and is helping all equally or he is impeding the rescue of non-Gujju Indians by favouring Gujjus. Pick one, you cant have it both.
Muloghonto Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Firstly' date=' Modi did donate money and yet created controversy. The fact is simply anything which Modi does, his haters will say he should have done the opposite. If he donates 10, they will say 20. There was one perfect chart illustrating this very issue. [/quote'] Modi should've donated the money to the rescue fund. Not directly give baksheesh to the military personnel that creates conflicting loyalties. If i get rewarded for saving gujjus and not for saving Tamils, guess what ? next time there is a disaster, i will make sure i save the Gujjus first. That is the normal human response, doesnt matter if you are in the army or not. This is bad and therefore i think Modi's 'donation' was counterproductive. Had he donated money to the MoD and let them dole it out as fit, I'd have had no objections to it. Your right to help an Indian exists on the basis of : a) you treat/help all Indians equally b) do not interfere with the laws of triage. It is not nonsense criticism to say that when you give baksheesh to the army personnel directly, it creates loyalty issues. It is not nonsense to say that when you prioritize saving the Gujjus first, you are directly overriding the laws of triage, which prioritizes need, not statehood of the victims. All Modi is doing, is favouritism of one type of Indians over another in a crisis situation. Which is deplorable.
