fineleg Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Looking at dsr/KT's world 11 - If you have to have a spin allrounder - then why not Shakib Al Hassan over R. Jadeja?? In general - for left arm spin allrounder, is it not true that SAH has proven over time? While I thought of this looking at KT's thread - this is a general comparison question and hence decided to post it separately.

On the other hand, Shakib's played more minnows and has accumulated most of his numbers; runs and wickets against them unlike Sir.

On current form, Jadeja is better but we are talking about an itnernational cricketer here who has 5 one day centuries, 3500+ runs with almost 80 strike rate and has taken 150+ wickets in ODIs at under 4.5 rpo. In tests he has 2 tons, averages 35+ with the bat and 32+ with the ball with 3.5 wickets/match. At these points in their careers, Sakib and Vettori are easily better spin bowling allrounders than Jadeja and Saqib particularly would walk into any ODI side.

This is what i was getting at. If people stop saying banglabros blah and just look at cricket performance then SAH has intl centuries, fifties and wickets to prove. Sakib is overrated. Stats are boosted by playing against minnows. If we hold him to the same criteria that we hold every other player against, then he comes up short. If he is going to be playing at 4 or 5, he needs to have a higher average or a higher SR. Jadeja has been really good as a bowler in the last couple of years and has been handy with the bat(high SR) at number 7. If he continues like this for a few more years, he could become a great. But thats a big if. All this in ODI's. Jadega hardly has a test career to be compared with anyone.
