Ultimate_Game Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Folks, any idea what's the status on Dhoni's injury? Heard he didn't take the field in the 2nd innings. Is the injury serious or more like cramps? IMO regular players need to be rested for these series. No point in getting your main players injured as they have been playing non-stop for quite a while now. I hope better sense prevails and BCCI gives some of the regulars a break.
Lord Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 He should hv been rested.I said it earlier too. hopefully its not something major, but even then he shouldnt play this series n Zimbabwe
saneindian Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 They are saying he may miss next couple of matches. Should be sent back to India.
Crookbond Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Some news reports say that it is cramps but it looks like a clear hamstring to me. Any official news?
G_B_ Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 the worst part is he kept batting despite being in clear discomfort. This was bound to happen really. We are playing some non stop cricket. Cant be easy, batting, keeping and captaining all the time.
Sidhoni Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Had to happen after all these years of completely non stop cricket in all formats. Hopefully he can recover soon.
Ultimate_Game Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 They are saying he may miss next couple of matches. Should be sent back to India. Yup, should be rested for rest of the series even if medical staff deems him fit to play. This tourney is not worth a more serious injury. Some news reports say that it is cramps but it looks like a clear hamstring to me. Any official news? It looks hamstring or muscle pull. Strange that there's no official statement about the injury. the worst part is he kept batting despite being in clear discomfort. This was bound to happen really. We are playing some non stop cricket. Cant be easy, batting, keeping and captaining all the time. He should have left the moment he was injured. More often than not playing through an injury can lead to a more serious injury. It's not as if we were playing a WC final that he had to play through the injury. Had to happen after all these years of completely non stop cricket in all formats. Hopefully he can recover soon. Playing non-stop cricket and that too as a wk-batsman is extremely taxing on the body. Dhoni's been lucky so far but it's time to reduce his workload and also groom a new captain. DDK is there as a wk-batsman and Kohli should take over captaincy when Dhoni's not around.
SLICKR392 Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 I hope he sent back home and isn't considered for the Zimbabwe series as well. Needs a long break.
vvvslaxman Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 He is a Tiger..Will be fit and back soon Even if he comes back i would want him to field rather than keep. Keeping takes toll of any player.
JaFanatic Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 MUMBAI: Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who did not keep wickets against the West Indies during the team's tri-nation series opener in Jamaica on Sunday after sustaining a hamstring injury while batting, is to be examined by the doctors before deciding future course of action. "Dhoni is not feeling good. He is going to be examined. He has a hamstring issue," a source in the BCCI said here. Dhoni handed over the wicket keeping duties to teammate Dinesh Karthik in their opening match last night, which was won by the West Indies by one wicket at Sabina Park, Kingston. India are to take on Sri Lanka tomorrow at the same ground and the source said that the selectors would take a call on the matter once his injury is assessed. "The selectors will decide once the report is finalised. He won't be asked to return yet. One match is over and only three or four games (if India make the final) remain," he said. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/series-tournament/tri-series-in-west-indies-2013/top-stories/Will-injured-MS-Dhoni-leave-tri-series-midway/articleshow/20861082.cms
vvvslaxman Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 okay if it is hamstring it is going to take a couple of weeks atleast. No point in staying there unless it is for sightseeing. You could make it really worse even if you do warm up.
Ultimate_Game Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 I hope he sent back home and isn't considered for the Zimbabwe series as well. Needs a long break. ++ He needs to be given a decent break from the game. Would rest other regulars like Kohli and Ashwin as well for the next series.
vvvslaxman Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 ++ He needs to be given a decent break from the game. Would rest other regulars like Kohli and Ashwin as well for the next series. It serves two purpose . Giving exposure to bench players. Also nice decent break for others.
Lord Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 It serves two purpose . Giving exposure to bench players. Also nice decent break for others. only problem is we dont hv good bench.Mooli is crap Dhoni shouldnt hv been picked n we should hv gone for youngsters
bulbul Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 VK in place of Dhoni,6 Batsmen are more than enough for Lanka.
vvvslaxman Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 only problem is we dont hv good bench.Mooli is crap Dhoni shouldnt hv been picked n we should hv gone for youngsters Yea atleast one or two like Mandeep, Chand.. i know they are yet to evolve.. Sometimes throwing them in the deep end might work.
Clarke Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 VK in place of Dhoni' date='6 Batsmen are more than enough for Lanka.[/quote'] You'd be nuts to play 6 bowlers.
