adi B Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 For some reason he reminds me of Damien Martyn that has to be one of the worst reasons
vvvslaxman Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 If he improves his shot selection he can be handy down the order like Andrew Symonds.
maniac Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 He is Ok...STill think he is a limited player.....Unbeleivable Aussies dont have good enough batsman that he walks into the X1 in all 3 formats
singhprakash72 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Wouldn't make it to Australian C team 10 years ago.
fineleg Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Bailey is far better than this Hack Steve Smith the Test batsman :hatsoff:
Vijy Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Smith will prob end with a 40-45 avg, but I don't rate him that highly. Bowl dry and this guy will go for a rash shot, IMO.
Scarves Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Smith is a player who just works hard with his technique, it is not a pretty looking technique but he has a solid head and knows what he needs to do. Future Captain without doubt. He will be No. 5 for a very very long time, remember he is 24 and a batsman's peak is 28-32.
vvvslaxman Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 hes a mixture of Dhoni and Clarke :P Actually i came here to post something similar. Somewhere between Dhoni and ..... other name i was searching.
coffee_rules Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 horses for courses player. I don't see him as a long term prospective, neither a batsman, nor a bowler, but can do both. Like Bailey in tests. A consistent hack of a player.
vvvslaxman Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 He is a fighter i give you that. But technically mhe. Most of the surfaces Ashes played had nothing for England seamers bar Broad who could bowl odd good spell. Once the ball got old they looked even more pedestrian.
ganeshran Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 He is as good as a player as Faf du pleiss. On most days, he looks just not cut out for the longer format. But every now and then he scores a gutsy knock which makes you rethink.
coffee_rules Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Average of 37 after 17 matches is below average. He needs to play more consistently to be termed a good player. Average of 41 in last 10 is Gangulyesque. He can retain the place if he is the captain! ;-)

gurunath sharma Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 How did people here not see the spark in Steve Smith :headshake:
