Since it's next week and I need a middle order bat, I thought Jaffer will be more suited as both the batsmans haven't had match practice too keeping in m ind. Again since it's middle order spot, I am going for Jaffer over sehwag or rohit OR badri. I reckon Jaffer still got it in him to score some runs and come in handy to calm things down for our batting order if Tendulkar is not available.

Jaffer is not good enough in conditions which are helpful for pace bowlers - conditions which assist pace, bounce, swing and seam. I dont think he will ever get selected again but just saying this for people who think he could be a good test prospect. Same for Badrinath. They are batsmen who will score tons of runs in FC but dont have technique to do well at international level. My team for SA will be Dhawan Vijay Pujara Kohli Rohit DK (has good technique and temperament - has done well as an opener in tests in Eng in the past) Dhoni Jadeja B Kumar Umesh Zaheer (if he is fit)

He has better technique tha Rohit Sharma, Rahane, Raina, Sehwag, Karthik etc If you are talking about the technique as in the one which most of the people these days are obsessed with. Definitely better than KKD whom you have right now in your team list as I see you just edited.

then why did you pick Gambhir and Zaheer? They wont have nay practice too. Zaheer has not played for India since England test series.
