Shukla has a very good runup, best one I can see among Indian fast bowlers.

Umesh is the Best and that also by distance..... I mean among shukla, Ishant, even Varun though I don't wanna Count Varun at all as not to sure how good or fast he is After his injury, Suyal, Unadkat,Mohit or others.....I believe Umesh shud control some runs tOo-possibly dhoni wanted Him to buy wickets and he ws going too much to get wickets only Compare today"s game rishi dhawan may also have a T20 bowling analysis As good as mitchell johnson but johnson is a far better bowler than dhawan. Exactly that way Umesh is far better then a shammi or a VK....I believe there is A CLASS of difference....... Similarly BK is way ahead of all other Swing bowlers....there is hardly any competetion. I kinda strongly believe a Quality guy is a better option..... Selecting shammi VK unadkat and even ishant ahead of Umesh is not Correct....only BK Can be selected ahead of Umesh.

@rkt i don not think shukla can go much faster with this action i saw that 143 k bouncer and he gave his everything..ofc you can always go faster with no control but brett lee will probably bowl at 165 without worrying about control at all in his prime.

@rkt i don not think shukla can go much faster with this action i saw that 143 k bouncer and he gave his everything..ofc you can always go faster with no control but brett lee will probably bowl at 165 without worrying about control at all in his prime.

He did bowl quicker than this in IPL a against KKR. Regarding action, his pace will come from runup. He has a very fluent runup, one of the best in Indians along with Suyal. He is not runningi n right now. Remind how Steyn runs. When he wants to bowl quick, he runs in faster to get more momentum. Shukla has very similar length runup as Steyn and if he would want to bowl quick, he would run in a bit quicker. 141K- atleast 5 to 6 balls at that pace I suppose 142 ws fastest today .... Earlier he bowled upto 143+ But bowled lot of 140+ balls in his 4 overs. I may pick him ahead of a Shammi Ahmed or even an Unadkat In ODI"s and tests.....he looks to be hardworking.

Shami will be a good option in tests,don't rate him in the LOIs.Regarding Shukla he is already better than VK,Unadkat & Shami in ODIs.If everyone is fit then BK, Ishant,Aaron,Mohit & Shukla should be our 5 pace bowlers for ODIs.

You cannot say how good he will be in LOIs until he plays for India A, or Challenger Trophy or Deodhar Trophy, imo or even plays for Rajasthan Royals across a whole season. I think his IPL performances will have him in one of these three teams soon. His speed is interesting, I think he's the type of bowler who will get quicker when he has played for a while without injury. I wonder how well he maintains the speed across 10 overs and across a Test match. I think he will be able to maintain it quite well because he has that good action. India did not win World Cups by picking people based on literally two or three spells of bowling. However, there is no doubt he is a big prospect. I think he is the type of bowler who will just get better and better as he bowls more without injury and works out his game.

Everyone I can think of was picked too early, discarded eventually and then stagnated (as you'd expect). The only ones who developed vaguely properly are the ones who went under the radar like Praveen and Bhuv Kumar.

They are picked before they lose their pace after rotting in FC cricket for long. Generally, bowlers with less pace who depends on pure skills are not picked early because such skills take time to develop and mature. Likes of Balaji, Irfan, Munaf, Sreesanth had played a lot of FC cricket before they were picked for national team.
