An illustrious career behind the mike, where you hold us in thrall while giving us a glimpse of how the best practitioners of the batting game read an ongoing match, with Rahul by your side. Or maybe, as a cricket administrator, heaven knows we need a change of guard in our current setup. Or does life as an honorary Member of Parliament hold your interest enough that you will continue to contribute to Indian sports as a whole. Or will you truly retire and give everything for your family who gave up so much for you so you could be ours? Whatever it is, we wish you only the very best. Here's to the last of the Fab Four. Here's to the true son and father of Shining India.

Many, many young batsmen, Indian and outsiders, have gone to Sachin in difficult times and found very good advice. A batting coach/consultant is a role he might like to play. It will keep him close to batting and international cricket.

Sachin is an extremely private person, I doubt if he would venture in to commentary or coaching

In a regular job 40 is considered quite young, but for most sportsperson 35 is old, 40 is grandpa, so when one retires at that age he would eventually have to pick up something else. He is still pretty young outside of the world of sports. He can't just sit on his bum for the rest of his life because he has enough money. He will definitely find out something else that will interest him, but I don't see him travelling around doing commentary like most other retired cricketers do. I think he will do something away from cricket, may be he would expand his restaurant business or get involved in some other business; something along those lines.
