UV looking "lean" is the only reason he seems to be picked, poor player of short deliveries at pace always has been

Rohit was as rubbish as Raina in Australia. Because 2012 was a bad year for Rohit everywhere, not just in Australia. While he had already played some good innings in Australia in CB series 2008 and played crucial role in India winning that tournament and again a better Australian side.

saneindian Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Raina needs to set a target for himself, no pull shots /cross batted shots to be attempted till he's faced 35-40 balls. Even if he scores 20-25 runs off 35-40 to start with, he can always make up for the slow start IF he stays longer. Play out Jhonson for the 3 over spell he'll invariably bowl at him. Does no harm, target other bowlers later on. Now that he's batting at 4, I wish to see him succeed there though still believe Dhoni batting at 4 will make the batting unit even more stronger.

G_B_ Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Johnson is not so easy to play out. Your talking about somebody who is probably the deadliest person in world cricket among bowlers when on song. Trott tried to play Johnson out in the recent England Aus series and it did not work out. The fact if for all the flaws of Raina, we need to admit that Johnson getting wickets when in top form, there is not much to be done. Its hardly the first time Raina has fell to Johnson this year. I think out of 4 ipl games Johnson caused havoc for CSK in 3. The 4th was a super flat pitch.

At Mohali too, he survived an over from MJ, then in the next one hit him for 7 runs off 1st 3 balls, tried to play a needless pull and was out. At number 4, he'll have to curb those risky shots and can still succeed, at least on these pitches.
