vayuu1 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Raina and jadeja cant save their lives against bounce and would be cannon fodder against fast bowlers on australian pitches,we need to have backups ,you cant have two guys hopping around.
nevada Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I thought this thread was about Vinay Kumar who runs in faster than he bowls and jumps higher than his deliveries will ever bounce.
vijay50 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 The only jumping jack I could think of is the great Ashok Dinda.
moniker Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Backup for Raina? Isn't he already the backup for Yuvraj?
GautiMaan Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Raina,Yuvi and Jadeja all great hitters but seem suspect against quality bowling,I think a stable middle order bat like Pujara or Rayudu would serve us well in Aus
I6MTW Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Raina' date='Yuvi and Jadeja all great hitters but seem suspect against quality bowling,I think a stable middle order bat like Pujara or Rayudu would serve us well in Aus[/quote'] Quality Bowling is overrated and a myth these days. Even Dale Steyn sucks in this format of the game. Almost anybody can hit anoybody these days.

I6MTW Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 :hysterical: Jadeja's batting was the reason we won the CT.
King Tendulkar Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Jadeja can get in team on bowling and fieleding alone The fact he can sporadically contribute with bat is bonus Raina cant bat 4, has to bat 6 and have a slog
GautiMaan Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 :hysterical: He can also play innings like Faulkner did today. Just that he doesnt get to face Ishant
GautiMaan Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Quality Bowling is overrated and a myth these days. Even Dale Steyn sucks in this format of the game. Almost anybody can hit anoybody these days. Regardless need another steady player in the middle order imo,too much flair
maniac Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 He can also play innings like Faulkner did today. Just that he doesnt get to face Ishant Not against a half-decent bowler....And I still maintain Jadeja has been our best bowler followed by Bhuvan in our recent succeses. His batting is not better than Aswin....You cant compare him with Dhoni and Yuvi who are leagues ahead of him as hitters

NareshK Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Yuvraj, Raina and Jadeja will do a great job on flat tracks which most ODIs are played on. But on pitches with bounce or movement or even when there is turn, they will struggle. There is a reason why these guys haven't scored well in tests because you need technique and temperament to do well in that format which these guys don't have and you need the same when you play in conditions which are helpful for bowlers in ODIs too. When the pitch has assistance for bowlers, you can count out Yuvi, Raina from scoring runs. Jadeja is an excellent fielder and can bowl a tight line and length and can hit some quick runs at the end. So he is worth having in the side in ODIs. We need more solidity in the middle order though. One of Raina or Yuvraj has to make way for Pujara or someone else who has good technique or temperament.

This shows jaddu can hit any bowler. His problem is poor defensive technique like Raina and Yuvraj. http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-champions-trophy-2013/engine/match/578614.html http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-champions-trophy-2013/engine/match/566948.html

Yes. Pujara needs to come in. It has to be Pujara + Yuvi + Sir J or Pujara + Raina + Sir J (when Yuvi injured or out of form) or Pujara + Raina + Yuvi (when no need for SJ as spinner) We cannot play the useless-defensive-technique/poor-temperament-against-good-attack trio of Yuvi, Raina, SJ together

Top 4 must be proper batsmen.

He has done well in longer format in domestic cricket as well as in IPL on Jaipur pitch which has assisted seamers.
