G_B_ Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 CSA planning to send Lorgat on leave to please BCCI? Bowing to pressure from the BCCI, Cricket South Africa is likely to keep its CEO Haroon Lorgat out of any future engagement with the Indian Board to ensure that the marquee tour by India goes ahead without any further hiccups. The series has already been curtailed after BCCI took exception to the CSA's "unilateral" announcement of the itinerary in July. CSA, desperate to cut down the financial loss that it would incur if the series does not go through, has offered to "send Lorgat on long leave", ESPNCricinfo has reported. According to the report, during the "fruitful" discussion between the BCCI and CSA on October 12, the Indian Board had agreed to play two Tests and three ODIs in the month of December on the condition that "CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat is not involved in India affairs in future". "It is also understood that CSA has also informed the BCCI bosses that they would be working out a plan before the end of the tour to ensure Lorgat is not involved in future dealings with the BCCI," the report stated. If that happens, the BCCI could agree to play a three-Test series as requested by CSA. The BCCI had a rather rocky equation with Lorgat during his stint as ICC CEO and was reportedly upset when CSA hired him earlier this year. http://www.business-standard.com/article/pti-stories/csa-planning-to-send-lorgat-on-leave-to-please-bcci-113101700320_1.html

SLICKR392 Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I don't care what they do to Lorgat, just give us a decent series.

CoverDrive Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 what the hell is this. is this the way to run a professional sports getting into ego tussles
saneindian Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 3 tests and 3 ODIs? Do we have time for that? Last ODI vs WI is on 27th Nov 1st ODI vs NZ is on 19th Jan, team will have to be there 4-5 days prior to that so by 10th Jan SA tour has to be wrapped up. So the likely time window for SA tour is 1st week of Dec to 10th Jan, about 5 and a half weeks. Let them have the 3 ODIs 1st and then 3 back to back tests with a 3 day practice match. Will be a totally packed series but having the ODI 1st will at least give the team time for acclimatization. The better idea of course is to send the test squad early to SA letting a young team play the ODIs vs WI like in 2010. One thing is sure though. SA will be hurting after an impeding whitewash in Pakistan and with all this bullying by BCCI. We could see some of the nastiest test tracks for this series. Maza aayega

Maza aayega i am sure we can get 18 prime days of cricket in a 40 day tour. Say ODIs 1st Dec , 4th Dec, 7th Dec 10-13 4 day practise match 18-22 dec first test 26-30 dec second test 2-6 jan third test One thing is for sure, India probably need to tour with a 18 man squad packed with extra seamers.
saneindian Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 How can you play an ODI on 1st Dec? WI series in India ends on 27th Nov. Team will need a break of at least 5-6 days post that.
Laaloo Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Lets play the full series in AbuDhabi :--D Our spinners are also useless. And our fast bowlers are innocuous. Kallis and Amla would feast on us.
