Low, Average or High Scoring Thrillers?

Which is your fav type of match? The real low scoring thrillers where teams just about chase 200 or are able to defend 180 like the famous '99 WC. Or perhaps you like the standard 250-275 score matches which have something for the bowlers and batsmen. Can't think of any immediately that come to mind. Or do you like the high scoring matches like the SA chase of 438 and Sri Lanka coming close to India's 400+ at Visakh. For me, low scoring thrillers all the time, every day of the week, the lower the scores and the more difficult the batting conditions the more entertaining the match.

Low scoring but not in minefields or because of poor batting but because of great bowling

All are cool. You can't have all low scoring games. I mean you don't want to watch a 5 match odi series from ABU Dhabi like ground where the game is running low and slow and all games are similar in pattern. Nice to have a game or two in the series like that but you want mix of all. Throw in a 300+ along withs ome low scoring grounds. BCCI used to schedule better in 2005 time when they used to throw one game in Delhi, one in mumbai where odi's are not heavy scoring. Now a days, just to make sure all grounds get a game, they don't schedule well.

I voted for 250-275 (using todays rules) I just want a fair contest between bat and ball. I think 250-275 type score means that good bowling is rewarded and good batting is rewarded Its fair to say on good bowling wickets even **** bowlers like **** will be able to get the odd one right.

upto 225 means some bowler really ripped it and still some batsmen probably got going or all got starts atleast. 250-275 could mean at least at the top end some batman really dominated.

Low or average scoring when the pitch offers some swing or there is some bounce and turn. I would take high scoring matches any day over games played on slow and low surfaces where neither the bowlers nor the batsmen get to showcase their wares and it becomes a battle of attrition.

High scoring is best when plenty of sixes and 100s as well unless Ishant is on recieving end :((. Average scoring is second best. Low scoring is third best. :nice: ODI's were starting to get boring until current series. Barring Ishant over it's been great. Been good to watch Kohli, Dhawan, Rohit, Watson and Johnson in this series.

ODIs are still boring even through this current series. The only exciting one I can recall is when Sri Lanka rocked up to Australia a while ago. The scores were around 250 odd and were tight games. The best games in ODI folklore have been low scores thrillers. South Africa Australia in 99, Australia West Indies in 96, India Australia in 92, 87, 03 in Australia for the last one. Zimbabwe v. England where Brandes went into tank mode. Australia New Zealand with Bevan, West Indies South Africa in the World Cup in 2003. They were all less than 300 scores. Those are the classic thrillers for me. I mean who could forget this tpWNKurlUt0 or KO1XL8_ezVM

My choice would be a 240-260 total with equal weights in favor of bat and ball. A last ball finish to such totals would indicate that the bowlers had something in the pitch for them. Anything above 280-300 means that the batsman dominated the game, while a score below 225 indicates that batsman struggled and the bowlers dominated.
