Straight Drive
11-08-2013, 11:19 AM that is what rkt was saying no one doubts him after first 2 tests Not entirely true that he is not criticized at the moment. Today itself on the live match thread i noticed some comments which called him trundler and leaking runs etc etc. just before he took the first wicket of Robson. Useless was not the word used on that particular thread but the posts came across as just that or maybe even worse. Many still do not have the patience to wait and see how he bowls even a single spell. One over wicket less and he starts to get criticism for not picking wicket. Link to comment

beetle
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: World Cricket's Bowler of the Month, July 2014 When India's squad for the current tour of England was named, the absence of Zaheer Khan (who turned out be injured) raised a few eyebrows...but not Bhuvneshwar Kumar's. The 24-year-old has grabbed the opportunity of leading India's attack on a tough overseas tour with both hands, picking up 15 wickets in the three Tests so far. And even more important than that, despite Dale Steyn's impressive showing in Sri Lanka and late rallies from Jimmy Anderson and Moeen Ali, Kumar has won the coveted Bleacher Report World Cricket Bowler of the Month Award! Prior to this series, Kumar was one of a pack of jostling, almost interchangeable, Indian seamers and had taken just nine wickets in six Test matches. But the English conditions, despite delivering some benign wickets, have seen the swing-bowler extraordinaire claim two five-wicket hauls to firmly establish his name on the international scene. The first "five-for" came at Trent Bridge test where, on an Indian-style pitch, Kumar almost single-handedly plunged England into big trouble until a freak last wicket partnership between Joe Root and Anderson sent the game into drawsville. At Lord's, the paceman earned himself a place on the honour's board by using the ground's famous slope to take six for 82 in the first innings, a haul which included England's top-four batsmen. While a miserly, albeit wicketless return, in the second innings, piled the pressure on the homeside's doomed run chase. OK, so things didn't quite go to plan at the Rose Bowl for Kumar or India, where, despite struggling with his length, he still collected four more scalps to add to his tally. So where did this red-hot form come from? Kumar had bowled innocuously in two lethargic and wicketless warm-up games and, in fact, hadn't even played a red-ball game since a Test match against the West Indies in November 2013. However, his 20 wickets in the 2014 IPL and an economy rate of 6.65 presumably did wonders for his confidence. And the early innings movement of the Duke ball in English also can invigorate bowlers. Although, given that Kumar has removed 11 different England players among his 15 victims so far, his skills at finding reverse swing make him a major threat when the cherry loses its shine. Finally, throw in his batting—Kumar has chalked up 228 runs in this series and averages over 28 in Test cricket—and, if he can sustain these levels, India may have a new Kapil Dev on their hands. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2145494-bhuvneshwar-kumar-world-crickets-bowler-of-the-month-july-2014 Link to comment

Vilander
Piss poor last over today, Ashwin,Raina,Doni,Jadeja,Rahane,Mohit, all played well... And Bhuv kumar gave 18 runs in the last over... very poor ODI bowler. Link to comment
CSK Fan
Bhuvi is an excellent death over bowler and one over bowled in the 50th will not change my opinion. He bowled very well in the last few series at death when the same bowlers you mentioned were being carted around However, that doesn't change the fact that he should never have played this series to begin with. We have a fresh Mohit sharma and we don't need two slow seam bowlers. Yadav should have played instead of BK Link to comment
Vilander
Bhuvi should be dropped for umesh in next game Has played almost 40 Odi's but not looking the part Bowling 125 kmph full toss to tailenders Bhuvi is a crap death bowler pathetic over by bhuvi' date=',,ruined all ood work of others[/quote'] Link to comment

He wasn't the only one though. Yadav is not an ODI bowler at all, he goes at over 4 an over even in tests, and his career ODI economy rate is over 6. Just because he can bowl 140+ doesn't make him an awesome ODI bowler! Link to comment
beetle
Bhuv kumar is a pathetic ODI bowler...good comments from all. express bowling
BK has an exceptional economy rate in ODIs. His wicket taking ability has not been good though. Anyone can give away 18 runs in a slog over. Proves nothing. I think BK can become a very good death bowler. He is just too tired now. Link to comment
vishalvirsingh
After heavy workload in tests he shud have been played from third odi... I don't think there was a need for him to be played. Aaron was flown back who played just 2 matches..He could have played in odi. Bhuvi is still looking slow...His big swings at 12 6k are playable and at the end he is slow. Link to comment
ThePhenomenal1
bhuvi needs a rest imo. get a good rest, work on pace and reverse swing. you have done your bit bring in yadav for bk and if mohit is injured, kulkarni for him. about time we test new bowlers Link to comment
