He flopped big time against England as you said even now they are horrible against spin I have no fricking clue how they won those two tests where both Monty and Swann looked more threatening than him. Record is record but it is very shallow and is not an indication of his greatness. I don't put his overseas record against him he has played very little and is unfair to judge him but in India facing against batsmen who were willing to fight it out he has totally looked out of sorts. I think he is the only bowler/player from Indian whom almost the entire country want to fail and be thrown out. Not sure why. The guy has performed in the chances he received and the opponents he has been put against. Yes he had couple of bad series but again we are putting down a record for which he has worked hard. Even if he had a great series in Australia and had picked 15 wickets, he would have still taken 91 wickets in India as 15 of his 18 tests has been in India. Not sure how anyone can hold that against him. Probably he should not take any wickets in India to escape criticism? Then he would be dropped from the team, wouldn't he?

IPL affiliation is causing brain damage to some of our fans :cantstop:

Then he would be dropped from the team, wouldn't he? did u even read my post about his overseas record go read it again in case you missed it. nobody wants him to be thrown out, fact is many of us want him to reach to that elite spinner level who can bowl Indian team to wins everywhere against any team and not just depend on home cooked pitches to get wickets. Only a blind guy will say his record is awesome as it has been built on playing against mediocre teams on pitches which have helped him immensely. To say Ashwin has been great spinner so far is same like some idiot pommies who say James Anderson is best fast bowler and they have greatest bowling attack.

It is not like 90s kumble where he would take all the wickets others would just act as support casts. Bahutule, Raju, Chauhan, Sangvi, Nilesh Kulkarni et al. Also seamers step up much better in Ashwin's era compared to Kumble era. India would often go with just one seamer .

Like it or not he will probably do a good job at home v England and SA. In those teams i doubt England will be the same team when they return to play in India. KP and a lot of them will be touching 36 and Ash himself will be much wiser.

One series is too little to judge his overseas credentials. But the key on unhelpful tracks will be remaining mentally strong and doing a job for the team. But during the Australia tour he seemed quite adamant in interviews that he was bowling very well, which is concerning.

He is playing for India and he has achieved a great land mark. Sad if some fans think that way. Sadly players are judged based on IPL rivalry .That is why even in a congradulatory thread you find lot of negativity. If not for anything, they should cheer him for beating Pakistani in the fastest 100 wicket taker club. So many bowlers have come and gone since world war I. No one has achieved what Ashwin has achieved. It is not like we are having 100 test playing nations. Bowlers not getting credit for taking wickets mainly against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe was usual. When did New zealand, Australia or even West Indies join that club? Ashwin has failed against England.. suddenly they have become great players of spin bowling? Get a grip guys. Did you guys see the whitewash series of England in UAE? They were utterly clueless and going nowhere against a rank darter like Abdur Rahman. Even in the T20 India routed them for 101 runs.
