They still had slips more than needed those days. Richards was a monster though. Power was immense. But Kohli is definitely more attractive to watch as Kohli uses his wrists more than Viv. One thing I LOVE about Kohli, is that he isn't satisfied.He WANTS to go out and score a lot of runs in each match. You can see the frustration when he gets out.

He reminds me of a mini Ricky Ponting(regarding attitude). He seems to be that guy who can be really hard to please and is a perfectionist.

Kohli is not just playing well now he is dominating but needs to do this away from sub continent. Case has to be made for Richards as being the most dominant batsmen ever as he never had luxury of chasing the huge scores which Kohli had to due to his team's trundlers. Viv's team had the best bowling attack which did not give him huge scores in chases or he would have reached 5000 lot sooner.

RIchards was very much ahead of his time. Only guy who could match that strike rate was Kapil dev in that era.

One match where i marvelled at Kohli was the way he danced down to Ajmal in the world T20 and he middled the ball every single time without worrying about whether it is teesra, doosra whatever the crap he chucked.

That series was used to decide the squad for the world cup 2011. Every possibility was thrown by BCCI to leave Kohli out and make way for other players. Kohli kept performing and they couldn't drop him and later after that South African tour, after publishing such stats, he booked his place for the world cup. No one could leave him out with the form he was in.

Talking abt Viv, I am still thinking how this was possible... S/R in 1970s and 1980s even in ODIs must have been quite low?? And no batting powerplay and free-hits and 4 fielders in deep only restrictions. How many bowling powerplays in 1970s/80s? Were there 10? (of which Greenidge and Haynes took most?) Tremendous that this guy scored 5000 in so few innings! Stark diff between Viv and rest of ODI players of that era. Who was second fastest 5000 in the 70s/80s timeframe??
