Why is BCCI favoring Suresh Raina so much?

Raina is having a bad patch but I will always keep him in the scheme of things in ODI's played in the SC....He should never play a test match again or overseas but He is the only guy I have seen in this current team who can accelerate from ball 1...for now drop him but he is still a gun T20 and odi player.

Raina has Grade A contract becoz he has been one of our regular mainstay in both main stay in both ODI and T20 Squads.Yuvi had Grade A contract in the past for the same reason. Who else that has been a regular in 2 out of 3 formats for India has been left out?

Raina is the worlds' 17th best ODI batsman and 8th best T20 batsman (Currently). And he has been in the top 20 for a long time. Hardly warrants dropping him from these two forms.

I think people here in this forum are blinded by their CSK hatred and probably haven't watched any cricket prior to 2012. Raina in spite of being out of form has averaged 35 in the last 75 games since 2011 with a SR of 93. Not a great record but not a bad one to be dropped. Rohit Sharma was in the team longer than that with poorer record. He is a success now so fans are off his back. Raina has been the mainstay of Indian batting for the last 4-5 years and has played plenty of match winning innings. He needs to be persisted with for some more time. Just because we have some replacements does not mean that we keep dropping people after few failures. There is nor reason to bring your regional hatred in Indian team selection. This is Indian team selection not some Mumbai or Delhi team.

When I brought up about this forum's regional jibes on players from certain part of the country I was told I was wrong in the Ashwin thread. Some of the posts in this thread is cringe worthy and downright offensive and racist. Okay they tried to give him some practice up the order. Didn't work out. They can keep him at 7. He is a good pressure hitter. Asia cup, world cups are example. He has certainly some qualities that very few have in world cricket. Can go on rampage from the word go. No need of settling down. Keep him at no.6 or no.7.

They did bowl bouncers to Raina at the Gabba. He made 28 i think. When in form he is a smart guy to work around his bouncer weakness. All he needs is a bit of form.

We are going to play in Adelaide Melbourne and Sydney almost all our games in world cup. So whether opposition can bounce out Raina (or any of our batsmen) in Gabba or Perth is moot point really

i used to like "raina-the team player" before... but his lack of effort to address his deficiency with handling the short ball, left me less impressed. the current raina will be of no value in WC15
