Grooming Rahane

As INdia on the verge of getting bowled out, Rahane has played a brilliant knock once again on the tour. Always felt he will be ideal for the test team. Glad he has scored these runs. I am satisfied. Keep it going Rahane. Do the same in New Zealand, and if required, in 2nd innings too here.

Should bat at no. 5 with rohit moving down. Rahane has a better technique up front' date=' where as Rohit can slog with the tail late in the innings[/quote'] Not technique, the tempermanet. I wish that word is used more often than technique. What our players have shown here is the "Good temperament"

I am sold on Rahane as a lower order bat. Just let him keep that #6 slot for a year. We may need to find someone else for #5 instead of moving people up and down.

Why not number 5??

India might as well have played Ashwin in the place of Rohit. At least he would have scored 5-6 runs extra and would have provided another bowling option. Looks like a dry pitch helping spinners.

I feel he will do better when the pressure is less and I think we can find better top order bats than him for tests. He can hold his spot for providing some late inning stability like he did today although he needs to learn to bat with the tail instead of exposing them every over.

He is not #6 at all..He doesnt have a game to play with tailenders..We cannot use his potential of scoring big if he bats at #6. He should be playing at #5.

Played really well today amidst a fired up spell by Steyn. He was also hit once on the helmet and once on the arm but replied well with 2 fours - a straight drive and a hook. Sent from my Micromax A74 using Tapatalk

Very good. He has proved is the real deal Will like Vijay get a very long rope now and rightly so. One cant foget knocks in SA against such a good attack. Looked very composed Suprised more teams dont employ genuine openers at 6. As in that posotion often have to face opening bowlers after they have had nights rest with new ball

Quite impressed by Rahane. Has sufficient time to play fast deliveries. Is gutsy. Can take hits and does not flinch. Good on both front and back foot. Goes to the line of the ball and plays. Judges both length and line well. Has the pull & hook shots and rolls his wrists. Leaves deliveries well. Problems --- Take his eyes off the ball when ducking to bouncers. I hope he is not dropped on flat tracks as he lacks a bit of flair.

Most impressive aspect is' date=' even after he got pounded he was still coming behind the line each and every single time. Lesser guys would try to back away. a tad.[/quote'] He is a fighter,I will give him that but not the ideal replacement for Laxman

Impressed by him...hardworker but no natural flair
ROFL! "Natural flair" was busy this series with such things as closing his eyes with natural flair and doing these:...Meanwhile hardwork guy Rahane did ok :) sp2.jpg175227.jpg
