Pagalpanti Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Aus chased down 300+ vs SA attack here. Also can India put up 250+ score again on this track with much improved SA bowling? :nervous:
Cricketics Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 We have to have atleast 250+. I hope we get a lead of atleast 35 runs so we can go in with bit of confidence. Let's set smaller goals and eventually aim for the sky. If we bat out the day 3, we will have South Africa scared.
SLICKR392 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Need to have a good lead to start with. A decent lead at least. 30-40 and a lead of 250+ on Day 4-5 considering the rain that looms around in Day 4 and 5. Gotta bowl well anyhow.
Ghost Buster Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 The lead will be decided by SA bowlers :phehehe:
Sachin=GOD Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 The lead will be decided by SA bowlers :phehehe: :phehehe:
Cricketics Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Target of 325+ is needed to win. This. It might sound wishful thinking, but our bowlers have a burst where they get couple of quick wickets and then kind of slack or even though they are trying, they aren't able to enforce more trouble on opposition. So to have a target of over 300, will be be best chance for us to win. If it was a game in India, 250-275 would have been probably sufficient with spinners coming into play. But in South Africa, with this new bowling attack, 325 to be on safe side. Remember they have Amla+ABD who have been terrific recently.
Deleted_User_1 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Game over fellas.....we lost the advantage.....now time for Steyn and Philander to ram it in!!
satishg Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Its very difficult for me to see India winning from here. I am really happy for the fight India has shown in the 2 days of cricket and to be honest i think at the end of day 2 it is 60-40 leaning towards India's favor. But the only way we could have won this is by getting a lead of at least 80 runs and then hoping our young batsman to score close to 220 with a target of 300. Since the lead has now been diminished and seeing how well SA bowlers bowled today, i think it will be an even more difficult proposition for our batsmen in the 2nd innings. I think we will set them a target close to 200 and that will definitely not be enough for our bowlers. The only way this can change is if someone from our top order plays another Virat like innings and that i think is expecting too much from our young team :( Anyway its been a riveting test match till now and full marks for the young team in standing up against the number 1 side but i am afraid its going to be really difficult from here. I will be extremely happy to be proved wrong!
Old guy Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I think it will be easier to bat in 2 nod innings we were unlucky to get fiery pitch on 2 concecetive days cos of rain
Trichromatic Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 India needs to set a target of 350+ in 2nd inning.
Old guy Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Even if we lose I am proud by this performance Honestly cannot ask for more
ThePhenomenal1 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 We need to burst and get SA out first. Problem with india is restricting run rate, Even if wickets don't come, runs shouldnt be leaking. Dhoni needs to bring fielders in to stop singles when Ashwin bowls. Assuming we have a lead (even 20 runs helps), we can bat and make another 200+. Ideally, over 300 would be a good score. Yes SA bowled well today, but we only had dhoni, rahane and ashwin, the rest were tail enders and ashwin wasn't even out, he hit a few boundaries if i'm right. Hopefully dhawan plays better and him and vijay get us a good start. That's more crucial than anything.
ThePhenomenal1 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Even if we lose I am proud by this performance Honestly cannot ask for more I so want to win but even if we don't, at least its been acknowledged that we can fight and compete. :hatsoff:
Laaloo Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 India needs to set a target of 350+ in 2nd inning. That's not happening.
Pagalpanti Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 Even if we lose I am proud by this performance Honestly cannot ask for more True, Going into 3rd day with India likely to get a lead was a far fetched thought. I expected us to get rolled over by 3rd day. Anyhow if the fight so far is anything to go by, I wont be surprised if we stand up tall in 2nd innings again, for that India would need 280 at least IMO.
fineleg Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Even if we lose I am proud by this performance Honestly cannot ask for more sabby, That sounds like what minnow teams folks write in their forums, when they used to play India in tests. "Honorable loss :girly1:" and all that. India needs to take the catches (regulation ones) and pluck out the tail. Dhawan and co who throw wickets away better get responsible. The bowlers did a good job, and catchers and lead batsmen and tail-enders (to a bit, incl MSD tailender) need to do the job while batting. We have to make a real match out of this, and not get so happy and satisfied, so soon like minnow team fans do when they play against India or Aus or SA.

Hardly just look at experience of our side most of them are on their first away tour against number 1 side on one of their strongest grounds They will fight back hard and might win key moment cos of experience and we will make mistake but for long term this performance gives me so much hope .. Hope we win I am not making excuses for them but from unbiased perspective these guys have already exceeded all expectations ..in last 8 away matches we did not come this close with a experienced side and now we are in contention of winning against best side in world !
