Which team will be more happy at END?

India should be ashamed of this result. When you got just 7 wickets to take on a last day pitch and still couldn't finish the job, that's pathetic.. If Pakistan,Bangladesh or SL were in this match situation, this game would have ended half way into the third session.. Match result once again proves that this Indian bowling attack is the worst among all test playing nations...

And a smart decision. If Steyn got bowled trying to slog' date=' you have an injured Morkel and a crappy Tahir coming next.[/quote'] Steyn and Philander didn't have to slog, they just needed to take singles and the field was wide open. Philender was blocking it off the middle of the bat, could have easily pushed a few of them for singles or even doubles who knows. And in the last over if it was under 10, it was only a matter of one good hit. You cannot defend what South Africa did in the last 3 overs.

Haha...Where is Sri Lanka on test rankings ? At 7 or 8 ? Getting whitewashed abroad and getting beaten by every team at home too. :hysterical:

no way' date='Steyn infact looked angry after hitting the six that they couldnt win[/quote'] i thought he was clearly refusing Philander's singles off Zak . Even commies mentioned that. Steyn being the senior player should have taken the decision to go for it.

What Steyn got was a full toss of the last ball when they game was done and dusted. Shami wouldn't have risked a yorker while Steyn was on strike and the target was in SA's reach.

This isn't ODI cricket with restrictions in field. I can defend it because they didn't lose. Dhoni pushed the field back knowing that they needed 16 off 12 balls which is hard to get even with singles and twos especially with the field back twos are a lot tougher since most likely the fielder will pick it up. Imagine if India were in that situation, you would be happy that they drew and not lost. South Africa should be happy that they didn't lose chasing 458 and losing Kallis and Petersen in the morning. They didn't lose and there is merit in that.

Both would have been happy. India lost 5 out of last 6 sessions. Infact one session was a tie. It was a huge come back by South Africa in the last 2 days.
Not really. In the last 15-30 overs, SA would have been more disappointing with this result and India in the last 50. Our player would take this in the end although it was a golden shot at a win here.

Test cricket needs such games... we rarely see such exciting and this much stretched Test matches where on 5th day, we are into last few balls and all 3 results possible... Congrats to India for giving SA this much hard time... and Congrats to SA for coming back fulltime from nowhere, wow...

that's true because South Africa would have won chasing 120 odd.

From a match perspective, South Africa will be the happier side. Surviving 4.5 sessions is never easy. From a larger perspective it's an excellent result for India. Showing what dropping deadwood can achieve. Hopefully, it signals dropping deadwood from the bowling department and boneheaded captaincy as well.

India had a moral victory here. No one expected India to even put up a fight and they nearly brought the Saffers to the knees by day four. India will be disappointed with the fifth day but they would have taken a draw happily on day one.

If I was a judge watching a boxing match that ended without any player getting knocked out, I would give the below score to the 2 teams: SA - 5.5 Ind - 4.5

There's nothing like a moral victory though Saffies will think twice now before shooting their mouths off
