It does seem as if Pankaj is paying penalty for Lalit Modi. Indian cricket makes me sad sometimes Binny in cos of dad, Pankaj not even a sniff of a chance cos plays for wrong state which bigwigs have vendetta against.

I know some people here are suggesting he increased his pace but the same was said about Unadkat and that he was bowling 135-140k but when he played against Aus in ODIs, it was embarrassing to see him trundling at below 125k pace.

Fair enough To me all squads should have aaron, yadav and shami. And that should be our first pick seamers in odis and tests. Keep them in squad, manage their world load etc in indian squad

Slow or not, he's been performing well in Domestic cricket. What's the criteria for selections then. Atleast give one chance to those who've been performing well in domestic cricket else just scrap the drama of domestic cricket. Wasn't Jaddu selected in Test team on the basis of his triple hundreds in domestic cricket or is it because he plays for CSK?

really wish srini had been booted. ipl scandal was the perfect thing to initiate that. don't know what happened. cricket players are now picked on ipl associations and who they play for and not how they play. Of course, selectors have done a good job but still.. retaining ishant? i don't get it. when will somebody stand up and question the decision?

Both Zak & Ishant should've been dropped,I'm still ok with Zak...he can guide other young pacers but Ishant?:mad: Aaron should've been there in stead of Pissant. Dhawan,Vijay,Pujara,Kohli,Rahane,Rohit,Dhoni,Jadeja,Zak,Shami,Ishant/Umesh will be the first XI in tests.Reserves:-Rayudu,Saha,Ashwin,BK,Ishwar. For ODIs:-Dhawan,Rohit,Virat,Rahane,Raina,MSD,Jadeja,Ashwin,BK,Shami,Aaron is my first XI.Reserves:-Rayudu,Binny,Mishra,Ishant,Ishwar.Binny & Mishra are poor selections....I'd rather have Rishi & Rasool.

Pankaj used to bowl that pace 3 years back, not now. He has gained at least 10k of pace since then a he worked with their South African import bowling coach Mayrick Pringle who worked on his action and he now bowls consistently in the range 135-142K. Last time, I saw him live was last year in season opener where he took 9 wickets and bowled in same pace range.

He is a tall 6'2" outswing bowler who bowls mostly around 132 to 139K range. He has the best outswing in India right now of what I have seen.

Should be ok for tests. In the recent Sa-India series Philander was at times barely touching 130. In general i like this team. I think they should back Rahane at 4. Ditch project Raina.

Pace wise similar or bit quicker than BK,very accurate,tall & extracts bounce. Picks lots of wkts in the FC matches,has done well in the SA tour with the A team.Don't jump the gun mate.

I am not wrting him off. I have not seen him play much Just speeds are low, not the type to impact at highest level. Being tall does not mean a lot unless delivered at pace. Look at Tremlett in recent ashes. Giant of a man. Yet in 1st test was bowling low 80s and murdered, poms distraught at low 80s pace and thus axed him
